Summary: The most important thing for me when I was looking for a new clock radio was to have good FM reception for the radio station I rely on for traffic reports in the morning. I sometimes have a tough time getting good reception in my area. The reception on this unit is perfect!
Summary: First thing I noticed about this unit is the packaging was very nice. Came with batteries (incase power goes out). The unit itself is a nice glossy black, with a big screen that can be dimmed or very bright. The unit is average size for a radio like this.
Summary: I was happy to find a Sangean quality radio with stereo sound AND remote. Sangean has a $40 and $60 alarm clock but neither has stereo sound or a remote control. This one has both. This one also has an Ipod doc and the cheaper ones do not.
Pros: Sangean radio Good sound (for a clock radio) Remote Dual alarms (weekday/weekend modes)
Summary: I replaced a older Bose Wave with this so my review is mostly based on comparisons with that. While the Sangean obviously doesn't have the sound quality of the Wave, it's pretty impressive considering it's about 1/4 the price.
Pros: Decent sound, nice iPod integration, pleasant and easy to read display (see below). Comprehensive manual and function tree chart necessary given options.
Cons: Increasing volume alarm doesn't work with radio, display not self dimming. The iPod dock can't be closed or hidden, so when there is no Ipod in it, there's a pretty ugly gaping hole.
Summary: I have so much problems finding a clock display I like its been over 20 years since I had one with a display I like as much as this one. Buying a extra one and storing it away for this reason.
Pros: Can easily see blue lit display/brightness adjustable Display shows time, month, day and year choice between 12 hr or 24 hr display Dual alrm Weekend and weekday alarm settings For the size of the small speakers sound and volume is acceptable. Small footprint Better than the cheap walmart clocks ...
Cons: I agree somewhat with another reviewer that said the bass was slightly too much for talk radio. Playing around with bass and treble settings solved much of this. Still would rather have this clock radio than the cheap ones I had been buying.
