Summary: I suppose this is the best way to go about recording a radio show for later listening, but only just. I find the worst part is the file generation and handling. A three hour show is not recorded as a three hour file; each hour gets its own file, so that show ends up being three separate files to be listened to and then deleted. If you listen to all three at once the radio will stumble from one to another.
Summary: Convenient, sensitive FM reception even with antenna kept short.. Stereo recording, but mono, muffled speaker. Best listen with external Speakers. Records good to SD card, only ONE timer setting. The editing firmware is too simple, and confusing to erase single recordings. Twist knob volume is good, but with everything else in buttons, I would have liked up-down volume buttons too. You get what you pay for, I guess. Thanks to Amazon for good packing and timely delivery!
Great Tuner sensitivity and the Recording feature is very useful to me

Summary: This unit is very good quality all around Sound is very good for its size and the controls are intuitive. I was happy that I could get the recording feature working with a minimum hassle. I have had a very good experience with this brand for many years and have yet to find a dud in their product line. It's GREAT!
A beautifully designed and built MP3 player and radio

Summary: I bought this primarily to have a portable device to play educational MP3 files stored on SD cards. For this, it fits the bill perfectly. It also has a fine digitally tuned AM/FM radio, and excellent sound quality and volume for a device this size. It is well thought out and designed, including such features as a "lock" sliding switch so that when packed in luggage for a trip, you can avoid accidental activation.
Summary: We bought the Sangean for the radio recording function in order to time shift programs which do not have digital versions. There are precious few products in this space (Tecsun - various models, CCrane Witness Plus, and Sony ICZ-R51). We selected the Sangean because we own many Sangean products and have found them to be well designed, durable and exceptional performers. The PR-D8 seems to be an exception in some respects.
Summary: I wanted a radio for in the house that is like a car radio. Push buttons. Digital readout. Pre-set buttons. This has that and that's what I like about it. However the sound isn't as high a quality as what you might expect and I'm disappointed in that. The other feature I use a lot is the mp3 recorder. I often record programs (and songs) off the radio and listen to them on my computer (speakers). The audio sounds better that way (and I can jump past commercials).
Summary: This is a very good radio. Reception is quite good on most stations with nice alarm and tuning features. For a radio this size, sound is good. It is the recorder that needs much work. Although it supports 32GB SDHC cards, it is limited to 999 files. I does not support MP3 ID tags. The files you record from the radio are broken up into approx. 1 hour long files and the file names give you no idea as to when you recorded them, the date/time should be part of the name.
Summary: I had this product for approximately a year and a half and for the entire time it was on the threshold between adequate and junk. It's advantages (ability to use flash memory card to record, push-button station selections, timer for recording) were in balance with its disadvantages (extremely poor fast-forward mechanism, DC powered machine with an adapter for AC, no carrying handle, extremely thin machine with no base to hold it steady it thus having an extreme...
Summary: SANGEAN PR-D8 I PURCHASED THIS FOR MY WIFE BECAUSE SHE DROPPED AND BROKE THE VERY NICE BUT DISCONTINUED SANGEAN ATS-818CS . THE MANUAL IS UNDERSTANDABLE BUT YOU HAVE TO WORK AT IT. IN ONE DAY I CAN PROGRAM IT, RECORD USING THE TIMER, LISTENING TO FILES AND DELETING THEM FROM MEMORY. THE RADIO SOUNDES GREAT ON AM AND FM GREAT RECEPTION AND HERE'S WHERE WE HAVE A PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH THE RECEPTION IS GREAT WE GET HIGH AMOUNTS OF NOISE IN THE RECORDINGS.
