Summary: I bought this two years ago to bring in distant AM stations, and in that respect it's excellent. FM sound is also good; and it's handsome, to my eye anyway. But recently it's developed a problem: the "Step/Band" button on the top row that switches it between FM, AM, and Aux has started to fail.
Summary: I cannot say enough good things about this radio. I am addicted to "talk radio" and live approximately 170 miles from my favorite AM station. Every radio we have bought, including the pricy ones, had a lot of static on distant AM stations to the point you couldn't listen to the station.
Summary: I bought this radio based on it's reputation for outstanding AM band reception. I was impressed by the many reveiwers who raved over it's ability to receive distant broadcasts. I did take note of the good number of bad reveiws as well but took my chances anyway and placed my order.
Summary: Overall this is a high quality radio, using quality components. The reason for the 3 stars is that there is no AM reception. I have tried both in my office and at my home. Funny though how my $10 Kmart special picks up all the AM stations just fine.
com and my area should be able to get good reception for this station

Summary: Okay--I am technologically challenged so perhaps my expectations are unrealistic. I live 35 miles from KQED-FM in San Francisco; I listen primarily to this station. I just looked on radio-locator.com and my area should be able to get good reception for this station.
Summary: Good sound quality, simple operation, good reception. Much better than its predecessor at filtering out stray static some of our house lights seem to generate. I think the dimensions provided by Amazon are wrong. It's 10W X 5 1/2H X 2D. Only criticism is that it lacks a carry handle.
Summary: I was hoping for better reception since it would be used in an interior office. What I got was a one station radio even with the antenna fully extended. One of the reasons I decided on this radio was their bragging about such wonderful reception on distant stations - not true.
Summary: My office has metel walls and all my bumb boxes at home could not tune into the stations I like to listen to. I purchased the Sangean PR-D5 because it was advertised as something that can meet my needs.
