Summary: We were looking for a digitally tuned portable radio to replace one that we had for several years. We had no experience with this brand but now that we have the radio, we like it. It is heavy. That is not bad for us because we use it around the house. It wouldn't be as good if you intended to carry it with you when traveling, etc.
Moderately priced way to play music from USB flash drive, with nice capabilities but some limitations
20 July 2013
Summary: For years I had a Sony dream machine in the master bathroom to play music from CDs while showering, shaving, & at bedtime; but it began to skip very badly despite lens & internal optics cleaning. I had already switched to using USB flash drives to play music elsewhere (I've resisted getting an Ipod). I had trouble finding a compact sized, moderately priced unit with a USB port until I found this one on Amazon. It does a nice job, but could use some improvements: 1.
Summary: I really need an affordable player like this, something to play my audio books from a flash drive. I read all the reviews, but being desperate I decided I had to try it for myself. Needless to say, other reviewers were correct. Sangean really dropped the ball on the one. I am sorely disappointed! I'm not even going to bother writing a full review because there already is one that is well-written and honest.
Summary: This great little radio replaced my ugly boombox in my bathroom. I like the look and I'm happy to say that it picks up radio stations that didn't come in clearly with the boombox. Very nice product.
Summary: Excellent because it makes USB playing available without an mp3 player. I bought it to listen to recordings I once made on cassettes, then listened on my clock radio in the sleep mode so they would stop a set time after starting, then could pick up at that same point. This could be repeated as many times as desired. Cassette clock radios are no longer commonly available so this is a welcome convenience.
Summary: I bought this for a room that has bad radio reception, and it completely solved the problem. Playing MP3s via a USB stick doesn't work though. Using USB flash drives with mp3s that work in similar systems (I can plug them in and music starts playing), I get maybe 1 second of music out of the Sangean and then it gives up. I kept it for the radio though.
