Summary: I like the rugged looks of this radio. Reception is excellent. I live over 40 miles from nearest FM station and I can hear stations crystal clear over 70 miles away inside my garage. I also like the side compartment for my Ipod to keep it out of the elements. I love that it will charge batteries inside the unit. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a good solid outdoor/garage/work site radio. And as always I was amazed at how fast it arrived with standard shipping.
Summary: I purchased this radio because I worked in a factory setting where there is a ton of noise at any given time. Forklifts, presses, industrial rim welders, metal grinders, and you name it. It is loud and we are required to wear earplugs. I initially wanted something of high quality that was very portable and could fit in a bookbag so I first purchased the Sangean Toughbox.
Summary: You can not go wrong with any of these radios from Sangean . I own four, and love them all. I also have two Bose wave radios, and my Sangean radios sound much better, for much less! Thank you Sangean !
Summary: With the first Fatbox I received, the Aux ports didn't work straight out of the box. I returned it and was promptly shipped a replacement. With the replacement, the Aux ports worked straight out of the box. I didn't use it for a couple of days, then took it outside where I was building a patio cover. I plugged my iPod in Aux 2--it didn't work. I tried it in Aux 1--same results. I tried my iPhone 5 in both ports, and had the same disappointing results.
Summary: I am a bit of a radio junky. I listen to the radio all day long. I needed to relieve my Jeep and its batteries of the duty of playing my music and my stories when I work in the yard or the shop. This radio replaces 3 or 4 of my stereos because I can haul it around. I opted to by the rechargeable 'D's, and their battery life is good.
Summary: Purchased to use in boat. Plugs into cigarette lighter and is really rugged. It has been in 5 boat trips now and is more than adequate to provide great sound while running 4 stroke 70 wide open or anchored at beach with approx. 12 people. Everyone is impressed with the sound volume and quality.
Summary: I have to admit its a bit pricey, but man is it worth it!! I absolutely love this thing!! Very durable gets loud enough for most work areas. If you forget to put it away and it rains no problem!! its waterproof too! this is beats all the other jobsite radios out there for sure. Reception is pretty normal to any standard radio.
Summary: I consider myself a bit of an "expert" on portable boomboxes/speakers as I buy a new device at least every year. I am always searching for that combination of sound, functionality and resistance to the elements. In the past I found the offerings either to be too fragile or to have unacceptable sound. I have finally found something that is getting close what I am looking for in the FB-100. PROS - Extremely durable. Looks like it could take a lot of abuse.
