Summary: This is only a small radio so one can not expect big sound so in a larger room it does sound a bit tinny but it has very atractive blue lighting when run on mains. Other reviews have complained of a possible design problem with the on/off button but so far keeping my fingers crossed mines fine.
Summary: Reception is terrible. Continues to cut out. Don't know if it is the radio or the signal in Argyll that is the problem. A lot of money for a radio that is nowhere near as good as the old cheap one I had previously.
Summary: Purchased this radio in August 2010. Up until now I would have rated the radio 5 stars +. Now ( as it appears with numerous other owners) the on/off switch has suddenly stopped functioning. I e-mailed Roberts customer service, but had no direct explanation to my question regarding the apparent design fault with the switch. To have Roberts repair the radio + my postage costs to return the item is around £40.00. Roberts offer a three month guarantee on their repair.
Summary: The main good points are that the radio is easy to set up and to operate. I didn't need to refer to the instructions except for a few exceptions such as trying in vain to find a way to dim the lighting and the good DAB and FM reception even in the more difficult parts of my house. Against, although subject to personal taste, is the choice of the display backlight colour and brightness and likewise the surround lighting of the controls.
Summary: Friends have a Roberts Revival Radio. Recently; while decorating at their house, I had the radio on (above normal volume) and could hear it even when upstairs. I was impressed by the sound quality so was going to buy one; then I noticed the Ecologic 4 had seperate Bass & treble controls; so it must sound better I thought and £70 cheaper.(Roberts list prices)So I purchased one. Sorry to say, I am disappointed by the sound quality of the Ecologic 4 compared to the Revival.
Summary: I bought this radio last November, having carefully read reviews of many DAB radios. It wporked perfectly for 2 months and then began to retune itself every time i switched it on. I contacted Robert's support and they told me it was faulty. Amazon replaced it immediately with no problems. The second one now refuses to find any channel of any kind. Roberts advised a factory reset but that solved nothing and they said the tuning was faulty.
on/off button common design fault-major quality control issues!
5 October 2012
Summary: Major design fault problem with this model, and coincidentally another roberts radio but different model, is the power on/off button being faulty, you end up with a radio that cannot be turned on. which is a useless radio. my first roberts lasted 5 months. my second roberts has lasted nearly 12 months. there will not be a third roberts until they sort out their massive quality control issues and design failures.im not holding my breath though.
Summary: Immediately from purchase, the radio would switch off for 5-10 seconds, then switch on again - Automatically! This happened approximately every 5-10 minutes. Totally frustrating and unacceptable. My first thoughts were signal problems, but after trying the radio in various locations - with numerous different stations, the switch on and off problem still occurred. I'd never had this problem with a cheap Proline DAB radio, I, er?, upgraded from.
Summary: After less than five months of very limited usage the on/off switch stopped working. This appears to be a common complaint, and must be due to a design fault. On this occasion Amazon were quick to arrange a replacement, but will they do so even after the warranty period expires, as radios should last for years.
Summary: The radio worked fine for 3 months and was very easy to use so I was very pleased with it. However ,after this period the radio suddenly turned on in the middle of the night and the on/off button didn't work. Amazon we're great and took it back. I have made a mistake and ordered a replacement which I wish I didn't do because reading the reviews others have had the same problems and it also appears that the radio has a tendency to break just outside warranty so I would...
