Immediate Failure - Old Computer and Special Cable Needed

Summary: This radio was delivered two days ago by Tesco. Today it won't start up because it says it needs an upgrade. For the upgrade you need a mini USB cable which does not come with the radio and access to an old 32 bit Windows Operating System. You cannot upgrade from a Windows 8 computer or Windows 7 64 bit computer. This is an outrageous state of affairs for a "new" radio.
Summary: Do not buy this! It was an excellent product (if a little slow and clunky) at first then went dead for a couple of hours and started up spontaneously. This intermittant fault continued until it went dead for good. I sent it back and the replacement did the same despite the fact that both only had light usage. I do not understand why this is still on the market. Either I am incredibly unlucky or this is an underlying fault and I'm amazed the product is still being sold.
Summary: The first thing I should say is, I was a big fan of the previous model. We had it for five years and we were completely happy with it. A simple DAB radio you can use in the bathroom, keeps working after it falls in the bath (yes I have "tested" this) and a great battery life. If you could replace the battery I would not have seen any need to upgrade. The good: This new model has slightly better sound quality (because of the vents on the back.
