poor sound quality

JACK A MOORE, Amazon
5 July 2013
  • Summary: For this price might have expected some control over the sound quality. Such as bass and, more importantly, treble controls. The fixed standard sound reminds me of old fashioned AM Medium Wave radios, which were always lacking in treble (higher frequency) output.

User Review

Roger Hart, Cnet.co.uk
13 February 2013
  • Summary: I wouldn't buy another one. The sound quality is not as good on this updated model than on my old one. The on/off fault is really annoying.
  • Cons: I have a model which is 3 years old and I would give that 4-5 stars. This model has a major fault, and I am assured that this is not actually a fault but a property of the new hardware/software update. It takes 10 seconds from turning on the set before it tunes to a station. It also takes 3 secon...

Needs a bass control

DrLucien, Amazon
29 October 2010
  • Summary: On the plus side Looks great Auto dimming display works very well - especially useful for a bedside radio. Easy to use. Even without a battery you can unplug it and it keeps it's settings for a while. No hiss for me - excellent reception. Auxilliary input - use with Ipod or computer.

Muffled

Redtagheur, Amazon
29 October 2010
  • Summary: If you like to hear people talking into a pillow then this is the DAB radio for you. It's so muffled it's on a par with the Goodmans GSR80DAB. The whole purpose of digital radio is clarity. This radio has no treble, no tone control. It's just not worth the money. Get a Roberts DAB instead.

Nice enough - but stopped working after 2 years

Komerade Snowflake, Amazon
29 October 2010
  • Summary: It's a nice radio, but after 2 years it simply started to randomly shut itself down. I googled this problem and it seems to be a pretty common fault with Pure radios. I am inclined to avoid Pure and go for Sony instead

Great - apart from the sound quality!

D Strecker, Amazon
17 January 2008
  • Summary: I bought this after reading all the glowing reviews all over the net. Pulled it out of the box and admired the quality construction of it. Then I turned it on and heard the overly bassy and slightly muffled sound quality so I hunted for the tone control... but there isn't one!
