Summary: For this price might have expected some control over the sound quality. Such as bass and, more importantly, treble controls. The fixed standard sound reminds me of old fashioned AM Medium Wave radios, which were always lacking in treble (higher frequency) output. Overall very disappointed with the sound on speach.
Summary: I wouldn't buy another one. The sound quality is not as good on this updated model than on my old one. The on/off fault is really annoying.
Cons: I have a model which is 3 years old and I would give that 4-5 stars. This model has a major fault, and I am assured that this is not actually a fault but a property of the new hardware/software update. It takes 10 seconds from turning on the set before it tunes to a station. It also takes 3 seconds to turn off.
Excerpt: On the plus side Looks great Auto dimming display works very well - especially useful for a bedside radio. Easy to use. Even without a battery you can unplug it and it keeps its settings for a while. No hiss for me - excellent reception. Auxilliary input - use with Ipod or computer. Headphone output.
Summary: I bought this after reading all the glowing reviews all over the net. Pulled it out of the box and admired the quality construction of it. Then I turned it on and heard the overly bassy and slightly muffled sound quality so I hunted for the tone control... but there isn't one! I listen to radio mainly in the kitchen when I'm doing other things so when you've got kitchen sounds of cooker fan, pans on the go, etc all you can hear is a boomy, muddy mess.
