  • Excerpt: I was looking for a DAB portable radio for quite a long time. My husband loves listening to 5 Live. He has about 4 radios in the house and he has them all on at the same time to listen to football results in every room. Of cause the problem was when he had to go out he would miss all the scores. With Christmas coming I decided to buy one. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews.
  • Pros: Very light and easy to use
  • Cons: None noticed yet

Looks good and sounds ok but short on stamina

  • Excerpt: I have had this radio for about twelve months and I don't really have any major complaints about the product. However, it is rather expensive and there are minor drawbacks that have caused some irritation and anxiety. This made it a very difficult decision when I recommended this radio. I can't explain exactly what it is but you get the feeling that this radio can break down at any moment. It seems to lack a certain robustness.

A good quality DAB/FM radio for those on the go

  • Excerpt: DAB Radio is said to be the future of radio broadcasting, but for a personal Walkman style radio FM offers more "availability". For example, I live outside Glasgow city centre, and DAB reception is good. However, on a bus or walking around the city centre, DAB becomes unlistenable. That's why I like the Philips DA1000 – it offers the advantages of DAB, but can receive FM broadcasts as well. For me, this offers an ideal solution.
  • Pros: Can receive FM broadcasts as well as DAB
  • Cons: No belt clip, but light enough to carry in shirt pocket
