Summary: For the record, this was my first portable DVD player so I can't compare this to any others. Maybe I just had bad luck. I had issues with this product from day one. There were times when it wouldn't load the DVD's at all or take longer than usual to load. The very *slightest* (sometimes even a small tap on the side) of jarring to it would stop play and reset the DVD; I NEVER could use this in the car.
Summary: We bought this DVD player in April of 2009 and only use it for trips. So it has been used maybe a dozen or so times? It just recently stopped loading DVD's. The disk spins for a few seconds and won't load. We tried 6 DVD's and it was the same deal for each. It seems like the reader eye won't move anymore? Anyway, after reading the other negative comments, I'm convinced this thing is trashed and time to buy a new one! Sorry consumer reports, this one is hit or miss!
I should've just thrown my money out of the window

Summary: DO NOT BUY! This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever purchased. It stopped loading DVDs after just a few uses - the day the 90 day parts & labor warranty expired! I had the receipt and all of the paperwork, but it cost just as much to pay for the labor to have it repaired as it would for a new DVD player. I called Toshiba to ask if they would cover parts & labor and sat on hold for about half an hour.
Summary: We purchased three of these for our children (ages 6-11). While it was a relatively inexpensive device compared to the Sony, we found out why. The batteries are very poor and do not hold a charge for anywhere near the advertised timeframes. One of the units was defective right out of the box and did not take a charge at all. After calling Toshiba directly and getting bounced around, I finally gave up, returned the unit and purchased a Sony.
Summary: This player is advertised as "multi system" ie it should play eg NTSC (ie Region1/USA) and Pal (ie Region2/Europe) disks - however multi system to Toshiba means different format disks not multi region disks. It will not play discs bought in another region. Beware.
Summary: I am NOT an easy sell. I am very technical and if an item isn't up to snuff or par I will absolutely return it and return it fast! Well, as you can see I am writing this review after 30 days so it's doing a good job! I should really be as honest as I am particualr about things.. so I have to say that this DVD Player is so outstanding I mean the quality and clarity of this portable device is simply devine.. You will love the picture, resolution, graphics.
Summary: We purchased Toshiba SD-P91S DVD player for our 5 year old to watch on driving trips. It worked well for about 6-8 months - playing approx. 40 hours of video. Now it has stopped working. So far, Toshiba's Customer Service folks have not been too helpful. I am hoping for better results from them as I continue to follow-up. Follow-up. Toshiba never responded in a useful manner to my multiple emails and phone calls.
Summary: We bought two of these units for our kids a little less than one year ago. One of them has worked just fine, however, the second one is a total lemon. If you read other reviews on here, you'll see that there is a pretty high prevalence of poorly functioning models of this player out there. If it works, they're fine, but if they don't...
