Player broke after 2 hours of use!

Overstock
25 January 2008
  • Summary: Took this player on our cross country flight for our 2 year old to watch movies... played one movie on the flight and when we got to our hotel that night the player quit working... I had to purchase a different player while out of town...major hassle! The return to Overstock.com was no problem and the refund was prompt; that was the only positive aspect to this transaction... To summarize I would not recommend this DVD player..

My son loves it

Overstock
14 January 2008
  • Summary: I bought this for my 12 year old son. He uses it pretty much every day because he's a movie nut. It allows him to watch movies - and more importantly not subject me to watching/hearing the same movie over and over and over! It is also nice because he can use it as a primary DVD player with a television. It plays a number of formats and can even act as a picture frame for .jpg's.

Excellent Value for Money

Overstock
7 January 2008
  • Summary: This is a great portable dvd product. It has all the current features on the market today including a swivel screen. Sound quality is what you would expect from portable devices - not great, but not bad either. Headphones make the difference here. Attaching the battery pack is easy. I would not have paid the MSRP for this item, but the closeout price made this item an excellent value for price paid and Toshiba makes a reliable product.

Satisfied once again

Overstock
6 January 2008
  • Summary: The DVD player was shipped extremly fast. It was on my doorstep in 3 days. Picture quality is great and it made the long car ride to grandma's house for the holiday's much more enjoyable. The only thing I could complain about was the volume wasn't loud enough for the whole car on the freeway. But I was able to purchase an audio cable to run it through the stereo system of the car. Great service and great product again.

  • Summary: The unit locks up while viewing DVD's. We have to power down the unit, power it back up, and start it again. We can then go to the scene we last viewed. Also, the remote doesn't work. We'll be sending the unit back.

DVD PLAYER

Overstock
15 December 2007
  • Summary: The first player I received was broken and looked awful. I called overstock and they sent out a replacement right away since this was a Christmas Gift, how understanding. The service was phenominal. I received the placemment within 4 days and saved the old one to compare it. 500% improvement. I could not believe how nice overstock was. The refurbish item looked brand new. the sound was fabulous. I have no complain. Great gift for the money.

Plays MPG files nicely

R. Leaton, Amazon
22 January 2006
  • Summary: The main reason I purchased this player was to have a portable dvd player that has the "divx" playback feature (not mentioned in the US literature), but you can read about it at DIVX.com. It won't play .avi files, you have to rename them to .mpg to play them. So far I've been able to play mpeg1, mpeg2, mpeg4, xivd, divx encoded files. The player features are better than average. The remote is nice. The whole unit feels a little on the cheap side.

Beware

L. Roberts, Amazon
28 August 2005
  • Summary: I received a new Toshiba SD-P2600 for Fathers Day Last year from my kids. After fourteen months of ownership and less than twenty five hours of use, the player would not turn on. This unit was manufactured in March, 2004. Since this unit is factory service only I mailed it to Toshiba. Several weeks later I was informed that the main board was burned out and the cost or repair was $466.00. That is in addition to the $70.00 to look for the problem.

  • Summary: Nice little player, carries well, battery charges OK, but pity locked into region 1, no hacking codes yet, but plays region free discs OK. Speakers very ordinary, headphones are essential for listening. Never freezes, picture great provided you sit square on to the screen, peripheral image not good.
