Summary: I was looking for a movie player that would support DVD-R discs and DivX/XviD movies. I originally bought the smaller SD-P1850 which worked fine for a month until the motor stopped working. Replaced it at the store with the SD-P1900 (the 1850 was now unavailable).
Summary: It was fine for awhile. We used only a few times on family trips. Then it quit spinning just after warranty expired. Not worth fixing. Bummed out , as this was supposed to be a good one and we've had good luck w/ other Toshiba products. I won't buy another though.
Summary: Used primarily in Montessori classroom of 19 students, 6th thru 8th grades. Used to view educational dvd's, including lectures and documentaries. Often used by one student, with or without headphones. Sometimes, three or four students gather around.
Summary: I got this for Christmas , read all the reviews in here and they are fairly accurate . The screen is a bit grainy for reading text ,but really its fine easy to watch a movie on , yes the drive is a bit noisy when it loads the dvd , quiets down after its running. The Battery last a long time.
Summary: We used it only a couple of times before the DVD drive began making noises. About 9 months later, after light use (estimated 20 hours) the DVD stopped spinning entirely. Toshiba says to send it in for repair (at customer cost) and as there is no receipt (item was a gift) customer must pay labor...
Summary: I hesitated buying a Toshiba because someone had told me they had a tendency to run 'loud' but not so. The case on this model is just beautiful. There are some sounds upon the initial reading of the DVD but no other sounds after that.
Summary: The screen is amazingly coarse - very low resolution. Any text will look splotchy. Picture quality should #1 on the list of criteria for a portable DVD player. After all we are looking at a pricey Toshiba and not a generic any name brand from China.
The size perfect, picture quality better than I imagined...

Summary: So, I am a DVD, movie watching fool and decided to invest in a mobile unit that I could take in the car, on the plane, to different hotels and this little Toshiba is now a perfect member of my family. It is so easy to use it is ridiculous. You just pop the DVD in and the unit does the rest for you.
Summary: I am generally satisfied with the system and recommend this player. My main interest is in playing .avi files with various encoding methods. If you don't play Divx files, please ignore the following issues. 1. SD-P1900 doesn't seem to play "WAF" encoding format video.
Summary: It has a sharp and bright image. My two years old son learned to play his favorite movie in a few tries, now he uses it every afternoon. By the way, I'm free to do my homework while he's watching a movie.
