Excerpt: Our main reason for purchasing the Toshiba SD-P1900 was for traveling in the car with our 2 year old daughter. Our family lives across the country approx a 4 hours flight away and we felt a DVD player for the little one was better than a more portable device which might end up getting destroyed.
*Toshiba - SD-P 1900 DVD Player* great when traveling with kids

Excerpt: I was looking for a not to costly portable DVD player for my grandaughter for her birthday. The "Toshiba - SD - P 1900 Portable DVD Player" is what I found in my price range. Its a brand that I know so I decided to buy, and was very glad I did. She loves to watch movies over and over again, the same one, now she can watch them as often as she likes. She has it with her just about all the time. In the car on long trips , it keep her from getting board.
Excerpt: I bought this Toshiba SD-P1900 9" Portable DVD Player for an extended vacation/car trip. It performed flawlessly with a phenomenal battery life of 5+ hours as well as ease of use plugged into the 12V car power outlet. Sound quality was excellent, as well as picture quality and brightness was top notch. At hotels it was possible to plug the video cables into the in-room TV and watch a movie too. The very first notable was the case.
Summary: Hi! Firstly, I'm so technologically-challenged that I just about need written instructions to open a pair of sunglasses, so this DVD player was a welcome surprise! To use; slide in(on?) the battery pack, plug in, charge (minimum 5 hours), unplug, turn on, open disc compartment, put in disc, plug in headphones. THAT IS IT!! The first movie I played, I pushed the 'Play' button; the second, I took a moment & it started by itself! Whee!
Summary: I must agree with previous reviews of this product regarding the sound quality without headphones. Very low volume and especially hard to hear when there is background noise. However, for the picture quality, size, and clear audio with headphones, I feel for the money, this was a perfect choice. I have never had a Toshiba product so I am hoping this machine will last a long time and hold up.
Summary: This is quite expensive compared to some I saw later brand new. It will play some but not all my DVDs. The sound when turned to its highest is barely audible. The buttons on the player are black and the writing on the buttons is black, so you just have to learn which buttons do what, as unless you hold it directly under a bright light you can't read it.
Summary: I purchased this for a xmas gift, thank goodness I checked it!!! the remote looked like it had been chewed by a dog and the dvd player had no picture, dirty fingerprints all over the screen and scratches all over the unit, overstock are sending me a replacement but a refurbished product that still cost over $100.00 should not be unoperable and dirty ,and it will not be here in time for xmas BUYER BEWARE!!!! everything else I have purchased from Overstock has been great!!!
Summary: The machine works fine but I didn't know "refurbished" necessarily meant "top of unit looks like it was dragged across an asphalt driveway." I've purchased other refurbished electronics before and you would never have known they were "recycled." This looks just plain used.
Summary: I am a bed-ridden invalid who spends a great deal of time reading or watching DVD's. As such, i have used many of these portable players. i have purchased several of them from Overstock.com. they are not intended to be left on twenty-four hours a day, but i confess that this is often what i must do. in addition, they sit too close to an ashtray and in a room with a down comfortoer that releases small bits of floating white goosedown.
