This DVD player features 480 x234 pixel resolution making it a fantastic choice for viewing three main types of DVDs, the letterbox, standard and the anamorphic. The black top is manufactured with acrylic and has an easy to use control panel with oversized buttons.
Since the early 1900’s Toshiba has focused on quality and this is evident in the compact design and the Home Theatre features which allow AVI, DivX and MPEG4 compressed files to be accessed from the internet and downloaded to a personal computer or stored on a CD-R/RW.
One other neat feature is the audio video input and output that allows the Toshiba SDP 1900 to be connected to an external television or monitor or to be used as a display device for a camcorder or digital camera.
The Toshiba SDP1900 will work with the following types of media: CD audio; CD-DA ; CD-R ; CD-RW ; SVCD; Video CD ; DivX version 6 ; DVD-R ; DVD-RW ; DVD Video ; DVD+R; DVD+RW; JPEG Viewer; and MP3.
Power is provided by a lithium ion battery that is rechargeable and lasts up to five hours; or by an external power adaptor. Toshiba SDP 1900 includes a remote control which uses infrared technology, A/V cables and an adaptor for use in the automobile. The dimensions are 9.4 inches by 6.7inches by1.3inches. The languages that are supported are English; French; Spanish; German and Polish.

The sound is Dolby DTS and the optical output is audio D/A 192 kHZ/24bit and this DVD player has two headphone jacks. There are several different types of accessories that can be obtained to make this portable DVD player more useful such as the audio cassette adaptor and several iPod adaptors.

my first portable dvd player that the main feature I love is out of the box text subtitle support on divx playback just like the way it works on PC. remote control also came in handy because I can watch it from a distance on the 9" non glare screen. unfortunately, the screen this size should have a higher resolution. 480x234 is a bit better than vcd quality and watching dvd is somewhat downgrade the experience. this unit is also picky on the brand of dvdr. I too have had the "no valid disc" error, after very little usage. But, I have found a way to get around it. Press the "mode" button many times while it's loading. The disc will start to spin (although it sounds like a garbage disposal, so it's probably going to die soon), and then it works. For now...we'll see. Read more

It was fine for awhile. We used only a few times on family trips. Then it quit spinning just after warranty expired. Not worth fixing. Bummed out , as this was supposed to be a good one and we've had good luck w/ other Toshiba products. I won't buy another though. Read more
