Summary: I needed a quality yet inexpensive portable player and I've had experiences with Toshiba products being top notch and this player is no exception! Well built and solid, yet not too big or bulky. The picture is better than you'd expect and I'm just really happy with this purchase. I was fortunate to find this one through Amazon in excellent shape and I would put it's performance up against any of the newer models available now.
Summary: Wouldn't stay on without being plugged in for 1/2 a movie while new, stopped taking a charge at all within 2 months. Latch sticks for the dvd release. Not a good design for a traveling person.
Summary: To ease the boredom of the long road trip i purchased this DVD player. It must be plugged in to a power source for it to work because it does not contain a battery. The screen is not that big but it is still manageable to watch in a car. I do not recommend this for people that are viewing in large groups or at far distances. This will not work at airplanes or at areas without a plug/power source.
Summary: My wife bought me a SONY portable DVD player it was 200.- 4 times what I paid for the Toshiba. The P1850 is Much better all around-- the battery lasts longer -will play 4 movies instead of just 2 1/2. I'm hard of hearing so either way I can use phones of the speaker and I can hear it. Do you know any one who wants to buy a used SONY?

Summary: After just over one year of gentle use, this two hundred dollar DVD player suddenly quit working. After getting no joy from Toshiba (Verbatim: "I apologize for the inconvenience, however you are outside of your warranty period and we would be unable to assist."), I bought the Audiovox D1718 7-Inch Portable DVD Player (specifically the Audiovox D1718PK 7-Inch Portable DVD Player with Bonus Headphones and Car Kit which includes two sets of headphones, a car adapter, and...
Summary: I purchased this item at the beginning of November 2006 and it is not working any more. First the remote went on the blink after about a year and now the dvd player itself has died. So, I please note that with regular use it lasts about a year and a half.
Summary: I searched and searched- and read every review before purchasing a portable DVD player for my kids to use on long trips. I finally decided on this Toshiba, and we have not been disappointed. It is a sturdy, tough little machine, and the picture quality is great. After a year's worth of use, I am happy to say it still works great, despite two toddlers' abuse and many trips. I have 3 year-old boy and a 1 year-old girl who now use the machine almost daily.
Summary: So far we're really pleased with this player, and it's handled everything we've thrown at it. 5 things could be better: 1. If the screen would fully fold back; 2. If there were a volume control on the remote; 3. If it could be hacked to be region-free; 4. If the battery would charge when the player were in use (needs to be switched off to charge); 5.
Summary: Item was marked down more than 50% and couldn't find a scratch or blemish on it. Worked flawlessly. Fast delivery. I purchased this item for its unique feature of providing ports for reading memory cards. Wanted to make a present to an elderly person who did not have a computer and wanted to look at JPGs from memory cards or CDs. Functionaly, this feature worked very well, but the JPGs displayed very poorly on the screen.
