blank video screen - fixed

C. Chase, Amazon
16 May 2010
  • Summary: Sony DVP-FX930 9-Inch Portable DVD Player, Black I am giving this 3 stars because of the blank video screen problem, but not fewer because I was able to fix it (at least for the time being). We got this Sony DVP-FX930 about 11 months ago. We didn't start using it until last Fall. We had been pleased with it - using it mostly to entertain our small children when they have to few other options, like waiting at piano lessens for their siblings.

Worked for 3 months, lost display

Jim Carhart, Amazon
29 November 2009
  • Summary: I liked this unit from Sony, but on it's second use in 3 months of purchase the display went blank. Checked Sony warranty and they want $87 for an exchange/repair. Yeah, I don't think so. The warranty is not up to snuff on this product. That being said, I liked the display, the controls, the 180 degree rotating display, the sound and everything else about it. I'd recommend this unit BUT for the horrible warranty.

It's ok

Walmart

  • Summary: Many features are great, but the power cord wants to come out all of the time and the button to pop the cover to load the DVD stopped working in the first month. Now we push the button and pry at the lid at the same time. The battery is great and lasts a long time.

Good Quality, Bad Design.

GRiG "GRiG", Amazon
26 July 2009
  • Summary: This is a replacement for my old Sony DVP-FX810. While the picture and sound quality is outstanding the unit design is very poor comparing to DVP-FX810. I own a lots of SONY equipment and noticed that starting about five, six years ago external design of their products became weird. Oh well, at least the quality is still good. Bad: 1. No acrylic screen protection like on DVP-FX810. Why do I need it? One word - kids. 2.
