Summary: Initially this product worked great. After 10 months of light use it stopped recognizing disks of any kind. I got on the Sony website and requested service. I entered all my info on-line and was given a ticket number. I mailed it in to see if I could get it repaired.
Summary: My experience with the Sony DVP-FX930 9-Inch Portable DVD player is very similar to J. Stranges. We bought this unit on June 5, 2010, used it for a long car trip, and then used it for a few more short car trips, until last week (November 6) when the player all of a sudden would not load DVDs. As Mr.
Summary: A lot of people have the same problem as I did. Works great for 6 months and then the screen goes black. The problem is the wires that connect the screen to the circuit board work loose from their connector over time by opening and closing the screen.
Summary: This thing worked great -- for about two months. Now, for no apparent reason(it wasn't dropped, damaged, or roughed up), discs will not load. Put the dvd in, the screen lights up and says "loading", makes the same scratchy sound and screen goes blank every time.
Summary: Sony DVP-FX930 Portable DVD Player I purchased this DVD player on January 2nd, 2010. It had problems from the start but was persuaded by Sony Support that it was "just static electricity" and told to engage in an elaborate ritual to make it work again.
Summary: Poor usability: i. The buttons are not raised, so you can't feel your way to the correct button, and they aren't illuminated. So if you want to use the buttons on the unit while it is dark, you need to turn on a light. ii.
Summary: Have been using for about 6 months. Plays fine on smooth roads but a moderate road bump (PA Turnpike) makes it stop and start the dvd over from the beginning. This has happened many, many times.
Summary: I bought this in May 2009. The player is actually very easy to use. My daughter is happy to see movies in a car for a long ride. But after 6 months the screen started working funny. Then it finally lost video. I could hear the sound, but no picture at all.
Summary: The FX930 is excellent in most respects except for one big problem... it would not load or play many of my DVD's and would not play-through others (stopping wherever the slightest flaw in the DVD was detected).
