avoid Purchasing with Electronics Expo

S. mcnutt, Amazon
20 January 2011
  • Summary: I order a DVP-FX930 at a price of $149.88 from Electronics Expo on Amazon Marketplace. Electronics Expo sends me a DVP-FX950 at a price of $131.98 instead. I look at the price on Amazon Marketplace for Electronics Expo and notice it was $18.10 cheaper. I order item A and they send me item B.

Stopped working after 10 months of light use

Jeremy K, Amazon
18 November 2010
  • Summary: Initially this product worked great. After 10 months of light use it stopped recognizing disks of any kind. I got on the Sony website and requested service. I entered all my info on-line and was given a ticket number. I mailed it in to see if I could get it repaired.

Defective

Fiona Wonnell, Amazon
13 November 2010
  • Summary: My experience with the Sony DVP-FX930 9-Inch Portable DVD player is very similar to J. Stranges. We bought this unit on June 5, 2010, used it for a long car trip, and then used it for a few more short car trips, until last week (November 6) when the player all of a sudden would not load DVDs. As Mr.

Dies after 6 months - faulty cable

Amazon Customer, Amazon
11 November 2010
  • Summary: A lot of people have the same problem as I did. Works great for 6 months and then the screen goes black. The problem is the wires that connect the screen to the circuit board work loose from their connector over time by opening and closing the screen.

Defective

J. Strange, Amazon
17 May 2010
  • Summary: This thing worked great -- for about two months. Now, for no apparent reason(it wasn't dropped, damaged, or roughed up), discs will not load. Put the dvd in, the screen lights up and says "loading", makes the same scratchy sound and screen goes blank every time.

Nice but...

Lee-Anne Phillips "Tech Writer", Amazon
17 March 2010
  • Summary: Sony DVP-FX930 Portable DVD Player I purchased this DVD player on January 2nd, 2010. It had problems from the start but was persuaded by Sony Support that it was "just static electricity" and told to engage in an elaborate ritual to make it work again.

Poor usability, poor quality

Bluejade, Amazon
3 February 2010
  • Summary: Poor usability: i. The buttons are not raised, so you can't feel your way to the correct button, and they aren't illuminated. So if you want to use the buttons on the unit while it is dark, you need to turn on a light. ii.

Finicky Player

Schieftain, Amazon
27 December 2009
  • Summary: Have been using for about 6 months. Plays fine on smooth roads but a moderate road bump (PA Turnpike) makes it stop and start the dvd over from the beginning. This has happened many, many times.

After 6months, lost video!

Mimi's Mom "Kiki", Amazon
23 December 2009
  • Summary: I bought this in May 2009. The player is actually very easy to use. My daughter is happy to see movies in a car for a long ride. But after 6 months the screen started working funny. Then it finally lost video. I could hear the sound, but no picture at all.

Only plays new or near-perfect DVD's

J. Summerlin, Amazon
8 December 2009
  • Summary: The FX930 is excellent in most respects except for one big problem... it would not load or play many of my DVD's and would not play-through others (stopping wherever the slightest flaw in the DVD was detected).
