Excerpt: My sister has one of these and she let mew borrow it for a while because me and my husband were on our trip. And the kids sometimes needs something to watch like cartoons and stuff for them to stay put.
Excerpt: I really like this Sony DVD player. It’s perfect for taking on trips, because it’s lightweight and easy to transport. I like that it plays more than DVD’s, too: it also plays CD’s and MP3’s, so it’s also a portable music player.
Give it for a gift, but don't forget to get yourself one!

Summary: I got this three years ago for a friend's birthday/traveling. He was going to Japan and I was hoping to get him something portable and entertaining. I went with Sony because it is definitely superior in brand in electronics, and this model was perfect. The swivel and flip screen allowed the sharing of screens amongst friends and ease of personal use, especially with this screen size.
Summary: Purchased the Sony portable DVD player in August of 2009 to use primarily when flying. It worked fine the first couple of times I used it, although the volume through headphones wasn't the greatest. After several times of watching movies, the screen would just go blank and you could still hear the sound. At first I thought it was low batteries, but it had been fully charged.
Summary: I bought this one in particular because it was the highest rated portable dvd player on consumer reports online. It's compact, got a clear picture, and easy to use. Only drawback is that the screen feels a little smaller than I would have liked but for the price it is really good. My kids use it in their room on "movie night" since we only have one TV in the house. We also use it in the car on long road trips. So far it's been great.
Summary: This is the 2nd portable DVD player I've used. I bought this one because the other player didn't hold a charge long enough for a 3 hr. flight. This player is so much better in every way. On a 3 hr. 15 min. flight to Disney World with my 5 yr. old grandson, it still had power when we had to shut if off for landing. We plugged it in to watch movies at bedtime in the hotel so it was charged and ready to go for the flight home.
Summary: Bought this DVD player about a year ago after one died that we had for 6 years. This one worked fine until it recently died on me. There are some problems with the design though, the line in switch easily gets hit and switched. When this happens it won't power on. Hard for my 7 year old to figure this out. The screen looked good for about 6 months, then is showed wear and tear, it seemed to rub on the inside and left a permanent mark on the screen.
Summary: The picture quality on this unit is superior, the BIGGEST drawback is that it can't decipher the aspect ratio correctly. When displaying a 16:9 disk SET to 16:9 it displays the video in a LITTLE square centered on the screen. Changing the settings does still not render the aspect ratio correctly, I think in part because you have to completely STOP the disk to change settings. Very disappointing on this point. Battery life is around 3-3.5 hours, nowhere near 6.
