Summary: We use this for long car trips. It's easy to set up and easy to use. Doesn't skip even on twisty and bumpy roads. We use one screen for the second row of our van and one for the third row. Would buy again.
Summary: I have pretty much given up on electronics that last for a decade or so. This one worked great for three years before dying unexpectedly. Originally purchased for $150/3 years = $50 a year for a great go-to distraction when car rides get too long and cranky. I just bought another one.
Summary: This unit will not last. Mine has completely stopped working. The 2nd screen quit working after 10 months. The main unit quit working after 13 months. This is a piece of junk. I had better luck just using a regular dvd player and propping it up on the arm rest. I think I will go back to that after my experience with these units. DO NOT BUY!
Summary: We purchased this set to drive several hundred miles in a multi-state move. They worked great during the move. We have used them on 5 or 6 long trips in the past 2 years. After the first couple of trips, one of the monitors stopped working. We planned on returning it, but found that our children could both see the single monitor just fine, so we decided to just keep it. Big mistake! Now, a few trips later, the other monitor quit mid-movie.
Summary: This is our first portable DVD player. I have a one year old that suddenly hated riding in the car, which made any car ride (no matter how long) miserable. This DVD player has been a lifesaver. The only one issue I have with this player is that is sometimes opens randomly while a movie is playing. She lets me know right away if the movie stops so I just shut it back and it resumes playing. Its definitely not a deal breaker for us. Its just more of an annoyance.
Summary: I agree with most of the other reviews. It definitely feels cheap, I was disappointed when I opened the box. However the kids (1 and 3 years) were ecstatic. We had 60+ hours of driving this week (cross country and back) and it definitely entertained the kids. They had no problem hearing it and enjoyed it. PROS -The power cord was long enough that I could put one screen up for my rear-facing child and the other screen up for my forward facing child.
Summary: Chose this model b/c of good reviews, however, now it won't show movies and we've only taken it on three road trips - bought this unit in March and it broke on an October trip, mid-Bambi. I've contacted Amazon customer service who referred me to Philips customer service since it's been less than a year, so we'll see what happens. It was easy to use, easy to set up, and a GREAT feature is that it remembered where the movie stopped when you get back in the car.
phillips dual screen portable dvd player with car mount
6 July 2011
Summary: So far so good. We bought these dvd players for our van. We went on vacation that has a long car ride. The players did great and they are working just fine. We like the way they mount also. The mounting is more secure than the staps that come with most portable car dvd players. The price was a great value for us.
