Summary: The first and foremost complaint I have about the portable DVD player is how loud it is. Not volume of how it plays, but how noisy the disc spinning is. I've had people on planes ask me to please turn it off because the mechanism is so loud. Besides the constant loud spin sound, any time you skip a scene, or a movie/episode comes to an end, there is a ridiculously loud almost grinding noise.
Summary: We bought at target. We used for about 3 months then we start receiving the NO DISC error message I tried cleaning the lens as Philips suggested but NO luck. The support also broke very easily, it's not kid's resistent. Terrible choice.
Summary: We bought this DVD player for a car trip, and it worked great the first trip back in March. We've always been very careful with it, and have kept it in a very nice case. When we got it out to take on the 2nd trip, I didn't even try it, but once we got going, it didn't work. The disc won't spin at all. I was on hold with customer support for 45 minutes, but they are finally sending out a new comparable replacement model.
Summary: My wife and I bought this from Target in anticipation of a long road trip with the kids. Having read horror stories about portable DVD players, I took it out of the box right away and tested it. Everything ran fine. Right as we were leaving, I installed the player in the car and it instantly would find any disc I would insert. We delayed our trip departure for 45 minutes to exchange it at Target for a working unit, which ran fine the entire 4 hours of the trip.
Summary: We purchased this at Target prior to reading any reviews. To our dismay, the head restraint mounts are more suited for a 1978 Nova (no offense to Nova owners :)). We considered using Velcro straps or longer screws to mount the unit in our Volvo, but decided it wasn't worth the risk of it flopping around. We called Phillips customer support, and they were no help. They acted like we were the first people to call and inquire if they had a different mounting system.
