Summary: The first and foremost complaint I have about the portable DVD player is how loud it is. Not volume of how it plays, but how noisy the disc spinning is. I've had people on planes ask me to please turn it off because the mechanism is so loud. Besides the constant loud spin sound, any time you skip a scene, or a movie/episode comes to an end, there is a ridiculously loud almost grinding noise.
Summary: The phillipes portable dvd player is adequate. It does what it's intended to do. I wish it were simpler to setup and that it didn't make you restart the entire movie each time it shuts off. But considering my kids are 1 year and 3 weeks they don't really seem to mind. It does what it's intended to. Could be less expensive for what you're getting.
Summary: We just took this DVD system on a 2000-mile road trip with our 1-year-old. It worked great! My only complaint is, as others have mentioned, that the battery can not be attached while the system is mounted.
Summary: Okay, I'll admit the player itself works, but the car mount kit is a joke. It all depends on a flimspy plastic hinge that will break as soon as the temperature heats up. Considering that the included car mount kit was the point of difference that influenced me to buy this device instead of other cheaper options, this is a big deal for me.
Summary: We bought this system for our daughters over two years ago, and it only just failed after receiving a ninja kick from my 2 1/2 year-old. Is it as good as a built in system? Probably not. But it wasn't my daughter's first kick that knocked out the system, it was her hundredth, so we'll be replacing it with another Philips player set.
Summary: We used the first one for 2.5 years until my daughter broke it. It got beat left and right. We used in Jamica, and Europe and across USA. Overall a great product thats why we bought the second one.
Summary: We bought at target. We used for about 3 months then we start receiving the NO DISC error message I tried cleaning the lens as Philips suggested but NO luck. The support also broke very easily, it's not kid's resistent. Terrible choice.
