Summary: We picked up this machine so that we could watch DVDs and movies downloaded from itunes while backpacking and we have been thrilled with it! We love that we can watch DVDs and listen to CDs as well as play media from our ipod (it even works as a digital photo frame!). The SD card reader also allows us to play some .avi movies which has been an unexpected bonus since it's not altogether clear which file types are supported.
Summary: Got this from the Amazon Wearhouse. I had no problems with the way the product works and the condition was better then described by Amazon. The remote is not the most funtional design but since it is a small portable player I am not using is so far from me that I really need to worry about the remote.
Summary: We bought two of these for each of our children for car use only b/c we couldn't afford the $3000 DVD system for our new minivan. I was looking for a tablet DVD player with memory card slot. This fit the bill and for $99 per player, it was a great price. Comes with both car and home electric plugs, which makes portability on trips nice (car ride and hotel room, etc). I love the whole concept and the picture quality is good.
Summary: I'm very happy with this product. You can't beat the price and it's a good little player. The only downsides are that it is made of fairly cheap (and probably easily broken) materials, and some of the menus and buttons are not super fast or well thought out. Other than that it's great. It was easy to program to allow international DVD's, it works with iPods, has a good picture etc.
Summary: I bought this as a present for my daughter, who had a VS55 before, but got a new iPod (Classic) that doesn't work with the VS55 (thanks, Apple :-( ). So far, it's been a bit better than I expected. It is built a little more solidly than I expected from the photos. It does indeed work with both iPod Classics and Touches.
Summary: i was looking for a portable dvd player with multiple uses; this one does almost everything i would have wanted. It came with cables for connecting to other display devices, and charging in house and car. I was surprised that it had so many possibilities. really cool toy.
Summary: I went back and forth on this because of the reviews about the picture quality and build. I am glad I bought it. My son is 3 and burned through the last "video player" option, a V55 that had the iPod dock. All of my video is iPod formatted so a "video dock" was a necessity. I could not be happier with this Philips except for one draw back. It has a "flip out" stand on the back, this is useless to me as the primary viewing is done in the car.
Summary: Day 1: Okay, first, out of the box it contains: the unit, 12v car charger, Wall plug, AV cable, and a Neoprene cover (still glad I got the XDS-9 Neoprene DVD Player Case (Blue) anyway) Unit: Controls are just fine. I don't know what everyone is complaining about. The kickstand is right next to the dvd player and holds the unit just fine. The screen does go funny when you look at it from below. But left, right and above, it's fully visible at all angles.
Summary: Most of the basics have been covered by other reviewers. The very basic stuff you know and expect has been given the proper attention. However there are a few things about this unit that are just plain wrong or misleading. -This unit CAN read movies from the memory card slot. DVD's encoded as AVI's can be read.
Summary: If you look at this as a PMP, and you're going to be viewing things you get off the internet more than DVDs, this is an incredible machine. What other PMP gives you a 9" screen, unlimited storage via SDHC (yes sdHC - important distinction), AND iPod compatibility? I bought it. It's great.
