The Panasonic DVD-LS82 is considered the “traveler’s” portable DVD player. It boasts a 12 hour battery life, which is far in excess of other portable DVD players in the same size and price range. You can easily hook the Panasonic LS82 up to nearly any TV anywhere, including hotels, and it accepts a variety of media ranging from DVD and MP3s to DivX off the internet.

Panasonic’s LS82 screen tilt feature makes it a good choice for people who travel on airplanes a lot. The LS82’s flexible hinges let users shift the screen easily in tight spaces until they find just the right niche. Will you be traveling coach? Not a problem, the LS82’s screen will even go flat against the unit. And did I mention the great size? It fits into most carry on luggage or brief cases without room to spare and weighs less than 2 pounds!

Speaking of screens, the overall image quality is average. Don’t expect theatre quality. Some units seem to have color bleed issues, and you’ll have to live without a remote. However, if you do a lot of driving the headrest mounting bracket let’s you set up an in car entertainment center for people in the back seat quickly and easily. Here they can watch a movie or plug in for music and get Dolby Digital and DTS sound. This feature is really great for families.

As with any portable DVD player the anticipated battery life must be balanced against the feature’s you utilize. Putting the brightness at the lowest possible levels and using headphones regularly extends your play time so it’s closer to the 12 hour level claimed by the manufacturer. Even when the system’s cranked up, however, getting 6 hours of battery time is pretty amazing and great for long layovers when your adapter is packed in the check in luggage!

Warranty wise, parts and labor are covered for three months, but the battery only has 10 days coverage. This is a weak feature of this product compared to other brands that provide better assurances without an extended or expanded guarantee.
