Summary: Kids on a plane. What more do you really need this for? It does that job quite nicely and works as advertised. No complaints. but the cost has gone up $100. Why, when a newer model is now available?
Summary: I read the reveiws on this before I bought it and most of the bad reveiws complained about the 6hr. battery life that was advertised. They were all saying it didn't last nearly that long. I just got this and tested the battery on the settings Panasonic said to (with headphones and lowest lighting) and it only lasted 4 and a half hours. I'm mainly using this on airplane trips of 3 hours of less, so it's just fine for me.....even if it doesn't last as long as advertised.
Summary: I love this DVD player. The only complaint is difficulty hearing it well. I need to get better headphones for the car because it's really hard to hear while my husband is driving with country music on! What fun to spend hours watching the next season of 24 while traveling. The trip sure goes fast (for one of us:) I researched for months. I love the screen being able to tilt without the base moving. That really helps with different lighting. It also feels sturdy.
Summary: The player is just great, very good picture quality, lots of controls, good sound (not a home theater but works fine), plays allmost all dvd formats, and you can adjust the screen in a lot of ways. The only issue with this, is that panasonic does not sell the car headrest kit separetly, so you have to buy the more expenisve model.
Summary: Received the LS80 to replace my wore out LA-95. While the picture quality is a bit less than the LA-95 it does play well. The standard battery will go about 3 hours. I acquired a Lenmar DVDP703 battery and it how plays in excess of 12 hours most times. The play time depends on the movie(disk speed) and the brightness of the display. All in all, its a GREAT sub $200 portable, but if you are expecting it to perform like the LA-95.
Summary: My wife and I have been very happy with the picture and sound quality, but so far we've only managed to get about 3 hours on a full charge. That's fine for most movies, but it also means we can only watch one movie during a long plane trip. Panasonic claims you can get up to 6 hours, so I'm not sure what's going on.
Summary: A worthwhile purchase. I bought this player initially for a flight from Los Angeles to Denver. It worked quite well for the trip. Picture quality is adequate not great but for the price is very good. I only paid $175 and for two to three times the money you can get a much better picture quality but for the budget minded or for children or maybe documentaries (I watch a lot of these) this is a very good value.
Summary: This products works as advertised. My only disappointment was with the screen resolution: only 480x234: much less than what I was expecting from an 8.5 inch screen. For casual movie watching on a plane, however, the resolution is not a big deal and the long battery life is a nice plus.
Summary: Positive features: Large screen, clearly visible from a broad range of angles. I can't comment on picture quality compared to other portable DVD players, as I haven't compared them carefully, but the colours displayed on this LCD are as good as those on a good quality CRT picture tube. Feels solidly built. Although screen is hinged so that bottom may tilt out or so that screen may lay flat (LCD side up) against the machine, the hinge looks very solid.
