A Rare Gem in a World of Crap

Gretchen, Amazon
26 February 2009
  • Summary: This panasonic 5 inch dvd player was truely awesome. Mine played everynight for 8-12 hours for 5 years. Additionaly due to several bouts of long term illness, it played many times for days on end, non stop. It easily managed home burned discs with the exception of cd-rw. It finally bit the dust, but only because of a failure in the power supply, either the imput prong in the the device or the power cord's connector to the device imput.

Great unit that I still use on roadtrips

Michael A. Duvernois, Amazon
17 January 2009
  • Summary: Bought this back in 2003. It's gotten a fair amount of usage by my daughters on long road trips, and occasionally for kids' movies during sleepovers and the like. Very well built, and the battery still keeps a good charge (over two hours).

DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!!!!!

Barbara J. Rausch, Amazon
19 August 2006
  • Summary: I purchased this unit in 2004 and I received the HO3 error and the unit does not work any longer. I called Panasonic and was told the 90 days warranty is up and I would have to pay for the repairs and labor!!! I told them to go on line and there are 100's of complaints about this unit H03 error. The Panasonic technical support person said the H03 error comes up depending upon the "USAGE.

Resolving Error H-03

Chris JHL, Amazon
19 June 2006
  • Summary: I've had this player for a few years and overall its a sturdy, small and easy to use. However, a couple of days ago mid way through a movie I recieved an error H03 and the player stopped working. Previous reviews and post suggest that after talking with un-helpful panasonic techs, removing the back panel and using an air canister to give the player a good cleaning can result in the player working again. This did not work in my case.

Solution for the H03 error message

NDS, Amazon
25 March 2006
  • Summary: After doing some searching online I found the following solution on a message forum: Open up the bottom cover by taking out the screws - 10 or so. This will reveal the lens and motor module. Flip over the model and you should see the gear and shaft for the lens. Move the gear so that the lens move towards the center. Click the covers back into place , reconnect the battery and try. There were many responses that said it was easy and the unit works perfectly.

H03 Error as well

Christian L. Hanebeck, Amazon
30 December 2005
  • Summary: This unit looked very good initially and had a bunch of neat features. However, I got the same H03 error as ALL of the other reviewers did. The process that ensued was very frustrating. This H03 error certainly is a quality problem in their manufacturing operation and is probably based on a bad part from one of their suppliers. Panasonic should replace the affected units at no additional cost.

consider something else

Amazon Customer, Amazon
5 October 2005
  • Summary: Ours made it a little over a year before refusing to read discs.Unlike the other reviewers that got the HO3 error code we got the HO2 error code. After calling customer service and being told to try pressing a sequence of buttons it still did not clear. If you want to buy a new system every year this MAY be the player for you.
