Summary: I bought this in 2007 when my son was a baby and now he's about to enter kindergarten. We have used it HARD for 5 full years. It has gone on innumerable flights and car rides. He has dropped it from the top of a grocery cart multiple times, as well as a dozen from the stroller. The battery pack would shoot off and pieces would fly off and I would be sure this time it would be a goner. But after popping everything back in place, it just kept right on going.
Summary: This is the best portable DVD player I have owned, and I have owned 6 over the years. We have had it for 3 years and it still works! We use it intermittently on plane rides and long trips to keep my kid entertained. That means it will go a few weeks or even a couple months without being used, then it will be used non-stop on a 12 car trip or every day for several days on vacation. It has the best picture by far of any portable DVD player, better than most TV's.
Summary: We have kept our DVD player in the car during the summer and the cold winter. It is still kicking and the picture looks great. The sounds is a little light, but I don't want to hear the DVD from the backseat anyway. A pair of headphones for my daughter and we are all happier.
Summary: Simply said. It died after 1.5 years of ownership. It was used in the car with appropriate seat mount kit, but it just will not read any DVDs anymore. The buttons on the side are terribly placed on this thing. The capacitive buttons are annoying at best.
Summary: The player had several features I loved, but after the first six months, it was gone for service. they replaced all guts...mother board, etc. three times. Over all in two years, it required 5 service calls. I think it overheats. I had difficulty with over 90 minutes. It just stops and it's done. Very noisy boot, after second repair it was hard to hear the movie due to operation noise. Better after third repair.
Summary: I am so glad we purchased this player. After reading reviews I wasn't so sure. It has a nice picture and easy to understand buttons that even my 4 year old has figured out. We bought it for a 5 hour airplane ride back East with our then 2 and 3 year old. It worked great. You can't hear the sound on an airplane. You have to use headphones, which is the only courteous thing to do. My kids wouldn't keep the headphones on so they just watched it.
Summary: I bought mine and after four or five months, it stopped functioning properly. First it started stopping. I would play the disc and again it would stop, even after I cleaned everything. Then it would run, but not play. I bought mine from Best Buy which went out of business. I forgot about the player till it was time for another trip, so I called LG. Was told I would have to sent the player in, pay for shipping and handling.
Summary: I researched many different portable DVD players and settled on this one for two reasons: 1) the USB port, 2) Why not get an 8-inch screen? I read reviews of possible audio problems with this player but haven't experienced any problems. I think the audio problems dealt with the volume when you didn't have headphones plugged in. But the reason you get a portable DVD player is to watch in on a long road trip or on the airplane. So why wouldn't you use your headphones?
