My friend gave me this LG DP781 Portable DVD player . I don’t know how much she bought it but I guess it is a bit expensive. It has an 8 inches screent that could somehow let me enjoy my viewing. It has a good quality of sound too. I have noticed that it is different form other portable DVD players whose sound would seem to come from an empty can. But with LG, it is really different. This is the best portable DVD player I have owned, and I have owned 6 over the years. We have had it for 3 years and it still works! We use it intermittently on plane rides and long trips to keep my kid entertained. That means it will go a few weeks or even a couple months without being used, then it will be used non-stop on a 12 car trip or every day for several days on vacation. It has the best picture by far of any portable DVD player, better than most TV's. Read more

Before going into the good things, those of you wanting to use the LG with your IPod should know that it will take a little jury rigging. You need couplers and the video out cable for the Ipod. Once connected you may find the sound suffers a bit but since the system wasn’t really designed for IPod compatibility, that’s not a bad trade off. Additionally, as a whole the speakers on this aren’t the best. I recommend using headphones.
Those minor glitches aside, there are some really nice features in the LG DP781 portable DVD player to which to pay attention. It has good touch controls that will please any computer geek. The extra benefit here is fort parents using a portable DVD player with children. With touch controls they won’t be pushing and breaking buttons. Additionally, the 8” view screen has fantastic resolution. Add to that a USB media host control, 5 hours of battery life, an automotive charger, High Fidelity Audio form Stereo Speakers, Twin earphone jacks, and the ability to play a variety of DVD formats, and you get a really good bang for your buck. That’s a lot of good “stuff” in something that weighs only 1.8 pounds (which of course improves its portability and decreases the system’s footprint when packing)!
Like other higher end portable DVD players the LG DP781 was careful to include a swivel screen for ease of viewing in a variety of situations. If you’re looking for a fanciful exterior, however, this system only comes in white. That’s really not a huge issue compared to the value you’re getting.
