Summary: I was at a pawn shop and bought an 80GB iPod Classic because I was running out of music space. That worked fine. Ended up passing *another* pawn shop 2 days later and then found this unit there. Well, the iPhone 4 definitely didn't work with it as I figured as much since it didn't even fit in there. The 80GB iPod Classic, I felt, wouldn't work either. Turns out it did. Not bad. It's like most DVD/iPod combo units where it's not all it's cracked up to be.
Summary: I thought I'd like this far more than I do. I had the old iLuv player (the one with the iPod slot on the back), and really liked that one, I thought this would be an improvement on the theme after our old one died of extreme use. This is a fine dvd player, but I feel it falls short in the execution. First, the pros: it has a beautiful, large screen and playing dvds is fairly straightfoward.
Summary: We purchased this item and took it on a plane; it generally works fine. The volume seems a little weak. The picture was not as good as the IPod Classic screen (understandable since the picture is a lot bigger). We ended up using our IPod Classic and putting the ILuv aside....If two or more people were watching the movie, we would likely use it; for individual use, however, its benefits are equivocal.
Summary: This seems only to work for the iPod Video, (despite what it says on their website). There are few details on Amazon, but iLuv state it will work for a Nano. which is what I wanted it for. I have e-mailed them for a solution, but at this rate, the iLuv i1155BLK - iPod Docking Station/DVD Player is going back to Amazon. Pity, because it's a rather neat looking unit.
