Summary: A neat little unit that has proven ideal to travel with over the years. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a detailed picture, as the screen is so small. That aside, my only real gripe is with the rechargeable battery, which pooped out very early on, accordingly, I haven't used it all that often since, hence the 3 star rating.
Summary: I purchased this item for my husband & once it came in the mail, i realized the item wasnt even the same item shown on the picture. Instead it was an older model of the Coby. Being that it wasn't what my husband wanted, he told me to keep it. It was cheap & it worked not bad for the price. I've used it for 6 months then it gave the 'wrong disc' error. It only could play music cds & dvds stopped working on it. I don't know what to expect considering it was refurbished?
Summary: I bought this personal DVD player WHEN THEY FIRST came out. I am using the same one now 11/2011. Super personal, super reliable. I took it everwhere. The battery finally won't hold a charge. Looking to find a new battery.
Summary: Don't waste your money this thing is not well made. The battery attachment went wonky after only a couple of tries. CDs make a lound scratchy sound while playing. The battery life isn't very good.
Summary: We have owned two of these units for about 4 years now. We mainly use them on vacation or for long travel/airplane rides and the kids love them! The picture is superb and the portability is excellent, but I do need to point out a couple of helpful things to potential buyers. There are two issues that you will likely encounter in using the TF-DVD500 players. The first problem is a very low volume.
Summary: As some have noted, this little DVD player has barely enough sound level to be heard comfortably through headphones in a quiet room. There is no built-in speaker. On an airplane, you cannot hear the audio at all over the roar of the engines. I used sound-cancelling headphones and was barely able to hear much of the dialogue. 18 mw is terribly insufficient. While screen resolution is low, it is adequate for most movies.
Summary: I purchased two of these dvd players for my two daughters 7 and 11. They worked well and kept the girls entertained. It took a while to figure out how to add the color but we played with the setting and figured it out. It is perfect for bringing to afterschool activities as well. Well worth the money!
Summary: This product played only 50% of the DVDs I tried to play - all of the DVDs were brand new, sealed in the box, commercially produced DVDs of recently released movies or tv shows. For those DVDs that it did play, I found it slow to load and the resolution is TERRIBLE.
