The game is based on the comic series Turok. In this case Joseph Turok is the team leader and his spacecraft is hit and he reaches a planet alongside his team members. Now the task is to survive the attacks of the dinosaurs as well as finding and stopping Kane, who is up to making disastrous substances to harm the mankind. The plot of the story is about Turok and his team going after a war criminal on a mysterious planet inhabited by dinosaurs. Turok features a variety of settings and challenges ending in an accomplished and satisfying way. Having to deal with both human soldiers and carnivorous dinosaurs, make the game more interesting than a normal shooting game. Turok’s main weapon is a knife suitable for close furtive kills, and very quickly he gets his signature bow which is advertised on the loading screens. The bow allows for "silent kills”, meaning that he can kill quietly and silently. But this is not so simple; sometimes Turok can be in hiding and tackle the enemy without the latter or his accomplices noticing him. But at other times, though Turok can be well hidden, the enemy will instantly see Turok and open fire. Some players find Turok to be somewhat inconsistent. They also find that the game lacks on the visuals and the jungle lacks life. However Turok remains an entertaining shooter, with its good writing, and nicely diverse play it succeeds in pulling fans towards it.
See lessThe original Turok series was a fun weapon based first-person shooter. I say weapon based because that was the thing I found most memorable about it, that and a man who used time-travel and wound up fighting dinosaurs. When a new Turok was announced I didn't know what to think. Yay? I didn't buy it for awhile but when I did, I didn't expect much. The review scores were pretty average, but I promised myself I would play through and beat the game. I did and I was pleased. Read more
Turok was fun to play. The end of the game, which I will not spoil here, is sweet and exactly what fans would want from Turok. The weapons are fantastic and creative. They require some strategy to use. I also like the fact that you cannot just run through a level to get to the end and pass it. The gamer will have to complete some tasks in order to complete a level. Overall, I found Turok to be fun, but it is only worth a rental in my opinion. Also, because of the... Read more
I'll be the first to admit that I didn't like the "new" Turok all that much. Even with the dinosaurs, bow and Native American protagonist, it just didn't feel like the Turok I remembered. In a sense, it was a bit like the arguments made against Marvel's "Ultimate" Universe - if you're going to do something similar, but not exactly similar, why bother with the reccognized name at all? It wasn't until I went back and played the original Turok games that I realized many of... Read more
Sometimes, it just doesn't pay to be Joseph Turok. Once a criminal, he was eventually fashioned into a member of the military organization termed 'Wolf Pack.' Under the leadership of a talented soldier named Roland Kane, Turok went from a tough-as-nails goon... to something more. Then everything went wrong. Kane betrayed the group he'd mentored and fled to a planet on the galaxy's fringe. That sort of behavior just can't be tolerated. Whiskey Company, a new organization... Read more
The multiplayer in turok is another great feature, although frustrating at times because of the lower quality it brings vs the single player mode its still fun to run and gun. However if you have ever played COD4 mp you wont even touch this part of turok. Read more
Fun: I enjoyed the first Turok games for N64, and the last one for the PS2 wasn't too bad either. I feel like for PS3 and its amazing graphics, this might be a home run. It is more like a ground rule double. I bought this game about 2 months ago, played it the first night I had it with a bit of disappointment. The dialogue, story line is lame for the most part. I recently started playing it again to give it another chance, and while it is enjoyable to play at times, I... Read more
A 3???? Wow you figured out what they spent on this game!!!! Read more
Should this game have been left to die with the dinosaurs? As a concept, Turok, the first person shooter with added dinosaurs, has been around for longer than the last Ice Age. After previously receiving a full release on the now antiquated N64 and subsequent PC, PlayStation and even Gameboy Advance ports it‘s now the turn of the next–gen platforms and frankly, we‘re a little under whelmed. You fill the combat boots of one Joseph Turok, a former black ops commando,... Read more
