Turok is a mostly a shooting game. It features an interesting story, good writing, and stunning voice dubbing. The plot of the story is about Turok and his team going after a war criminal on a mysterious planet inhabited by dinosaurs. Turok features a variety of settings and challenges ending in an accomplished and satisfying way. Having to deal with both human soldiers and carnivorous dinosaurs, make the game more interesting than a normal shooting game. Turok’s main weapon is a knife suitable for close furtive kills, and very quickly he gets his signature bow which is advertised on the loading screens. The bow allows for "silent kills”, meaning that he can kill quietly and silently. But this is not so simple; sometimes Turok can be in hiding and tackle the enemy without the latter or his accomplices noticing him. But at other times, though Turok can be well hidden, the enemy will instantly see Turok and open fire. Some players find Turok to be somewhat inconsistent. They also find that the game lacks on the visuals and the jungle lacks life. However Turok remains an entertaining shooter, with its good writing, and nicely diverse play it succeeds in pulling fans towards it.

In short you could say that this Turok is a rough diamond that could have been brilliant given more cutting. Right now the game lacks a bit refinement to really compete with the best. It's certainly an ideal rental game, just because hunting down dinosaurs is so cool, but I'm afraid it's also nothing more. Read more

Turok is the 5th game in the franchise. While the first title in the series was fairly well received, the latter titles left much to be desired. The story puts you in the role of Turok trying to track down is old teacher Kane for some unknown reason. Suddenly the space ship Turok is on comes under attack and crash lands onto a planet filled with dinosaurs and other creatures. The original Turok was subtitled "The Dinosaur Hunter" and the latest game is no exception to... Read more

So, Turok isn't an awful game, it's just an unbelievably frustrating one. Try as I might to like it, the game almost insisted that I didn't. Every good moment is countered by at least a handful of near soul destroying problems and every stunning piece of scenery is blighted by too much darkness and an erratic frame rate. A selection of solid multiplayer game modes aren't enough to make up for a poorly put together game, relegating the latest Turok to a league it simply... Read more

"Dinosaurs eat meat. You are meat. Run away!" is just one of the amusing bits of advice you'll read while respawning in Turok , a spiritual successor to one of the first worthy first-person 3-D shooters for consoles. While not as groundbreaking as 1996's Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for the Nintendo 64, this new shooter for the Xbox 360 is laudable on its own merit, delivering an immersive action experience spread throughout great-looking environments. It doesn't hold a candle... Read more

If you ask me, the pros should all be cons for this game. Half-decent dialogue is bad. Stealth kills will never keep anyone playing a game IMO. If that was the case then SOFP should have flown off the shelves. I don't think a 7 is good for this game. Playing the demo, I'd give it a 5 at best, probably a 4. Not because I hate the game, but because the game just sucks. Heck make it a 3 Read more

From around mid last year, Turok was one of my most highly anticipated games, the early screenshots, monthly news feed and the odd pop up trailer had me and many others hungry for more. Hyping this game up myself was probably my own fault, i was visualising so much and maybe expecting too much from the beginning, but the drops of news articles stating co op gameplay and advanced dinosaur AI had me thinking about all the great possibilities this next gen Turok could offer... This game gets a lot of flak for being a sequel. Turok 2 was a great game but, take the bias away and take the game for what it is, and you'll see it's a solid game. Along with beautiful graphics the engine is smooth and so are the mechanics. The gameplay is fun with a decent story to boot. You feel like you're playing in a movie. The dialog is raw, well written and with great delivery. It should remind you a little of Gears of War. Touchstone did spear head the project... Read more

The idea of a next generation FPS, involving shooting prehistoric animals sounds pretty good. However, unless you enjoy walking forward, shooting the same enemies, looking for a button to open a door, walk forward, shoot more of the same enemies etc... then you probably won’t like it. Unlike modern games like ’Halo 3’, ’Resistance: Fall of Man’ or ’Call of Duty 4’ there are no tactics involved. The environments are very dull, and repetetive. The graphics... Read more
