Assault on Dark Athena is not only a uniformly great first-person shooter; it also represents fantastic value for money, especially if you happened to have missed the gravel-voiced one’s initial foray onto the original Xbox and PC. Even if you’re among the many who previously played the original game back in 2004, buying this is reason enough to revisit it once more. Read more

One area the game kicks ass is in its brutal action. Early on you acquire a weapon called the ulak, a set of discreet half-moon blades that charge the adrenaline as you effectively combo your way into a kill that, with a timely counter or proper strike, ends in a rage. Every game overuses its mechanics, but I never tired of hitting the sweet spot with this weapon. Read more

This game isn't a run-&-gun, its more about stealth and the brutality. The 1st person that wrote a review said that it had "horrible" graphics, they should probably try using an HDMI cable and a decent TV, as it did have good graphics and good programming. Its not MGS4, but its not sub-standard. I havent tried the multiplayer yet as I'm deployed overseas at this time, but I'll definitely give it a chance when I get back stateside. Read more

    • Has 2 games: the new Dark Athena game and the 2004 Butcher Bay game. I haven't played all of the Butcher Bay campaign yet but so far I like it. In Dark Athena there's ...
    • I wish the Dark Athena campaign was longer, I felt like I went through it entirely too quickly. Also, mostly all of Riddick's lines are kinda over-dramatic.

This game was very enjoyable, with the stealth monents working very well. Getting up close and personal for the killing was very satisfying and somewhat brutal. About two thirds of the way through the game when weapons become more readily available it loses some of its appeal, because as an FPS it doesnt stand up to some of its rivals (COD, Killzone etc) But its the atmosphere, the story line and the voice acting by Vin Diesel that keep you coming back. In this game, Riddick and Johns are torn out of space by the Dark Athena as soon as they escaped from the Butcher Bay prison. The Dark Athena is a massive spaceship inhabited by former mercenaries turned interstellar pirates. From there on, Riddick makes his way through the bowels of the ship to escape the ruthless female captain who wants him dead. There’s the Pitch Black mode that is said to have been fully enjoyed by players. The Pitch Black mode is one of the online offerings on this game.
