The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is a sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. It is said to be the remake of its predecessor as well. This game was developed by Starbreeze Studios and it was published by Atari. The Assault on Dark Athena was announced in October 2008 and released on March 12, 2009.

Assault on Dark Athena stars Vin Diesel as the title character, Richard B. Riddick. He has also starred in the Chronicles of Riddick movie. In this one, the graphics and AI have been improved. The addition of a multiplayer mode will attract more players to play this game. This means the single has been expanded to include Riddick escaping onto a mercenary ship called Dark Athena. In this game, Riddick and Johns are torn out of space by the Dark Athena as soon as they escaped from the Butcher Bay prison. The Dark Athena is a massive spaceship inhabited by former mercenaries turned interstellar pirates. From there on, Riddick makes his way through the bowels of the ship to escape the ruthless female captain who wants him dead. There’s the Pitch Black mode that is said to have been fully enjoyed by players. The Pitch Black mode is one of the online offerings on this game.

    Riddick's night vision ability, known as Eyeshine, allows him to view any dark areas as if they were in the daylght. This special ability was given to Riddick during his stay in Butcher Bay, and players can actually see it happen during the game. Read more

    With two great games that will take somewhere in the region of 15-20 hours to complete, superb presentation and a sense that you're playing something different to the norm, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena comes highly recommended. If it weren't for a few unfortunate bugs and the odd strange design decision that score below this paragraph might even have been a notch higher. Read more

    First off I was someone who bought this game because it included EFBB and I could see why someone who had played the original might be a bit disappointed with the whole package. However if you are like me and hadnt played the original before i cant strongly recommend this game enough just to play Butcher Bay because it's worth it by itself. Most reviewers will point to the Dark Athena campaign as a major flaw here but really one should look at it as a bonus that comes... Read more

    I disagree with the editor's review. I found Dark Athena quite good,and Butcher Bay fairly boring for the most part. in any event, Riddicks voice and comments are worth the price of the game on their own. Not a game to get too excited about but good for a couple of days entertainment.     I dont think the reviewer before me meant to give the game a 1 star judging by his review and as the 1 star makes the game look bad I shall review it also. The game consists of the 2004 classic "Escape from butcher bay" and the new "Assault on Dark Athena" with some multiplayer features that are a good distraction, but not much else.     For all of us that loved and enjoyed the hidden classic for the original xbox, its worth the money. Gameplay is the same but looks beautiful. There is not much to say that hasent been said in any of the reviews. If you liked the original game youll like the 360 remake. simple as that. as far as dark athena goes....it could have been better but fuck it, i got butcher bay!!! Read more
