Because SOCOM is running smoothly most of the time, it is fun to play. You get what you expect from an online shooter and the different maps are varied, though some more wouldn't have hurt. Despite the catastrophic US launch of SOCOM: Confrontation, the European release proved less problematic. It was bound to happen. Finally a game developer has given up on finding a compelling story. They have not bothered with hours of single-player gameplay through highly detailed, spectacular and varied environments. At last they are fed up with all those lukewarm reviews and disgruntled posts saying that while the game was good it was too short, had no replayability and the online component was limited and disappointing. I love the controls and once you have them down, you feel like you are in full control of a highly efficient tactical weapon. Even if he can't run w/ night vision on, and that that night vision actually hinders your ability to see anything in detail, unless you adjust TV brightness and are in a dark area of a map.
