Review Summary

Rock Band features guitar-based rhythm of the creators of the Guitar Hero franchise (Harmonix). Rock Band’s inclusion of vocals and drums differentiates it from other games. The real brilliance of Rock Band is in its multiplayer. You can have two guitarists, or one guitar player and a bass player, a vocalist, and the drummer. Almost every musician will love to play Rock Band. The game includes the four main instruments needed to make a rock band; namely guitar, bass, drums and vocals. And all together it turns out to be a highly playable and intensely addictive game. The multiplayer supersedes the solo player. This game is all about the act of performance as a band, getting a group of four people together and working together to get the highest score bonuses possible as a group. You will fake guitar playing and realistically singing and drumming your way through more than 40 different licensed rock hits. Any music lover will adore Rock Band. The singing game is also fun, it is almost like Karaoke. You sing along as the lyrics displayed on the screen, trying to match your vocal pitch to the meter that moves up and down with the original vocal track. As party games go, this is one of the best, its included hardware is a lot of fun to play with. The Band world tour mode is very addictive. This game will probably make you a better drummer. All in all the presentation is fantastic.

When it comes down to it, Rock Band is a definite must buy game. If you’ve got friends to play with, it’s an amazing multiplayer game that is as much fun to play as it is to watch. Buying the Rock Band bundle for the single-player may get you a lot of content, but it’s kind of like buying an expensive guitar to play for five minutes and then let it collect dust for a few weeks when you pick it back up again. If you’re expecting a Guitar Hero experience in terms... Read more

Problems are present, such as the inclusion of a few foreign tracks in mystery set lists during the World Tour (not the easiest of songs to jump into without having any prior experience) and we still prefer the guitars included with Guitar Hero, but these aren't enough to hurt what is a unique gaming experience. It's all wrapped up with some superb visuals too, even if you'll hardly get time to watch the virtual band performing behind the fast moving on-screen icons. If... Read more

Lego Rock Band does not come bundled with peripherals ; the makers assume the target audience already has a previous Rock Band title (or compatible Guitar Hero title), including a guitar or two, a microphone, and a drum set. Using a similar assumption, this review will not go into the basic mechanics of gameplay, for Lego Rock Band is like any Rock Band : play the notes or sing the words on time. Where Lego Rock Band differs, however, and whether these differences seem... Read more

The game has a decent amount of charm, and the mini-games are nice background distractions. The song list is diverse enough to attract a wide range of players and the game holds on to a light-hearted theme with the animations, background graphics and overall mood. Read more

This game is fantastic for a different experience for multi-player games. If you don't care about stats or gaining fans you can play easy or medium hardness for some quick fun alone or with a few friends. If you like hard rock it has a great selection and more downloadable songs every few weeks. Read more

This game is perfect for parties and those that just want to rock out. My wife was the one who insisted on buying this. We had a few friends come over to try it out. One said it didn't look exciting but refused to give up the drums after his second time playing it. As for the songs, I've played guitar hero a few times, and I thought it had some better songs (Pearl Jam, RATM, GnR...) but it is still a better game play (cause of the drums, and the ability to sing into a... Rock band is one of the worst video games made. I mean graphics stink, if you hit the notes when you are suppose to the game marks it as a miss (this even happens after you calibrate the game). When playing online, you can't hear the other people singing would make a good laugh or wow if you could. Guitar is definitely too easy, especially if you've played Guitar Hero. The drums can be hard, easy on drums seems like should be expert. The songs, half of the songs I don't... Read more
