So let's start off with the story. The Story in FFXIII was decent. The concept was good but (without spoiling anything) I felt it was executed poorly. Especially in how it handled the main antagonist. Granted it had a few interesting twists the story follows a typical anime cliché focusing on friendship and changing ones destiny. The characters were also very cliché however I did rather like them (Snow is my fave). Read more
Final Fantasy XIII is a game at a crossroads. It's stranded at the intersection between the desires of an existing fanbase, the fading popularity of a genre, a legacy of cutting-edge visuals, and the rising cost of game development. It's a creation that displays the compromises of its development process at every turn, yet to its credit, it doesn't feel compromised . Read more
Final Fantasy XIII occupies an important place at a crucial time in RPG development. It may bring in a new wave of fans, but it might also weather the series' decaying fan foundation. While it's an experiment that doesn't always get everything right, but it undoubtedly provides a unique experience for anyone willing to invest the time. Read more
You can't escape the feeling that, in trimming the fat from the series, Square Enix has nicked FFXIII's bone. It's not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination; but it's too linear. Read more
Square-Enix knows how to treats their top series and again succeeds in delivering a great sequel. The combat is more fun and deep than I expected in the beginning and despite the auto-battle button you constantly have to remain focused. Final Fantasy XIII is linear, but that also goes for Uncharted and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Those looking for a Fallout 3 are clearly at the wrong address here. An immersive story needs some structure and linearity. Read more

Final fantasy XIII is a role-playing game in a long-running line of games developed by the very well-known company Square-enix . There was considerable hype leading up to the release in North America on March 9th 2010 and I had extremely high hopes and expectations for this game. It definitely delivers on what I was expecting, but does this masterpiece deliver on the side of accessibility? Let's find out shall we? Read more
It's funny, because if you think about it, Final Fantasy 13 is just one big metaphor for itself. One of the big themes of the game is change, and how each of the characters react and deal with it. FF 13 itself has also gone under changes, and like the protagonists whose lives it describes, it too has trouble dealing with this change. Still, there's a lot of potential here, and when it's good, it's really good. Read more

I waited over a year to play from the purchase date... not important why, but I am sorry I did. I have thoroughly enjoyed this game. I had trouble figuring out the paradigm system for the first day and then the idea clicked. Battles are certainly frantic in this game, which makes the paradigm shift a necessity. Game is very linear UNTIL arriving on Gran Pulse. And note that that is about 20 hours into the game. Read more
The characters though are kinda odd bunch, I could only recall Barrett from FF7 as the other prominent black character you can use in your game, but Sazh is kinda cool in his "I'm dragged into this not by choice" personality. Read more
Gameplay: One short way of just putting the gameplay: no interaction with the player. Unlike the previous Final Fantasy, you were able to use which magic you wanted, what type of attack you wanted. However, in this game, that's taken away from you making it feel less of an RPG. All you simply do is press x, and the system configures which attack is best [with or without scan/libra] used in the situation. Read more
I PLACE THE ORDER ON OCTOBER 16 FOR MY BROTHER'S BIRHTDAY AND ALMOST 3 WEEKS LATER NEVER GOT THE ITEM. THEN I CONTACT OVERSTOCK AND THEY PLACED ANOTHER ORDER. THAT ONE CAME 5 DAYS LATER. SO, IF PEOPLE IS BUYING EXPECTING THE MERCHANDISE TO ARRIVE ON TIME. I DO NOT RECOMEND IT! Read more
With a great story and amazing combat scheme this game is a must buy! Some people would disagree with me because it is extremely linear. That's what I love about it! You can't even really do any side missions until after you beat the game. I loved this restriction because it allowed me to enjoy the story without getting sidetracked. If you are someone that likes a little freedom in a game then this won't be for you. Read more

Not as bad as final fantasy X-2, but it's not pretty except for the fact that it's pretty. Hah, I made a funny. Read more
I’ve been playing Final Fantasy since it first started a long while ago on the old NES system. In Final Fantasy (the original) the game mechanics were rather simple but it was still quite ahead of its time for the amount it allowed you to do. You could travel around on a map, use different vehicles, and complete quests which awarded you a plethora of weaponry and items. Not only this, but there was quite a variety of character development choices. Read more
Its a pretty small line but still very fun and there are little splits in the road that lead to dead ends and equipment, I encourage you to gather everything you can Read more
Well I wasn't prior to playing FFXIII anyway and what can I say, I bloody love this game. Yes it starts with alot of linearitive but I believe that it is just to help the player to adapt to the new combat system, this so called linearity doesn't bother me in the slightest though because the combat never gets boring. The graphics are top notch well done to Square Enix for that, the differance between CGI and the in-game engine is minimal. Read more
