Devil May Cry 4

Developed and published by Capcom, the Devil May Cry 4 action/hack and slash video game was released for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 game consoles as well as on Windows PCs. This single-player game is the fourth installment in the popular Devil May Cry series and is the series’ fastest sequel to reach the 2 million copies sold mark—reaching the milestone in only its first month.

Gameplay

This game places the player in a storyline taking place after the original Devil May Cry game and before its first sequel. In Devil May Cry 4, unlike the previous three installments, the player gets to take control of both Dante and Nero—a new character. The first three games had Dante as the main character while Devil May Cry 4 has Nero as the main protagonist. Making re-appearances from the older games in the series are Trish and Lady to go along with the new characters Credo, Gloria, Kyrie and Agnus.

As a hack and slash game, the gamer—playing as either Nero or Dante—fight their way through numerous enemies using different kinds of weapons like firearms and swords.

Apart from controlling two characters, the Capcom developers have also added a few other changes. Devil May Cry 4 now has a new currency called Proud Souls. These are awarded to the player at the end of each mission with the amount depending on the player’s performance. Proud Souls can then be used to acquire new abilities while Red Orbs are used to purchase items for the character.

Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus ruled from 54 to 68, focusing much of his attention on diplomacy, trade, and increasing the cultural capital of the empire. He ordered the building of theatres and promoted athletic games. In 68 a military coup drove Nero into hiding. Facing execution, he reportedly committed forced suicide. Read more

So, DMC4 is a good port of an excellent game. While slightly linear, obviously console-led, and a little repetitive, if you suspend your disbelief and let the game take you on a ride, you’ll find your pulse pounding like a kettle drum. Any game that brings out an involuntary air-punching “YEAH!” into the middle of a quiet day at the office has to be doing something very right. Devil May Cry 4 comes highly recommended to anybody who wants to play an action game and... Read more

I was one of many hardcore gamers eagerly anticipating Devil May Cry 4 - so much so that I even spoiled myself rotten by watching all the in-game cutscenes (from the earlier-released Japanese version) as they were put up on YouTube. I couldn’t help myself. Every piece of information gathered got me more and more hyped up, and early impressions from the short, but sturdy demo just added fuel to the fire. Now that it’s finally here, I’m very happy, yet still somewhat... Read more

Whether you’re a noob or a veteran DMC- fan, DMC4 is an excellent addition to any collection. From its beautiful graphics to its polished audio effects and music, DMC4 is a work of art. Sure, it’s not perfect, but even when you’re playing through the same levels again, using a different character does change the experience. Character #2 plays nothing like Nero and, with the weapons you pick up along the way, there’s defiantly a lot of chances for variance.... Read more

DMC4 is a technically impressive game wih a huge flaw. Its gameplay. The game looks great, has some great monster dsigns, responsive controls. The problem is the game play seems to have stood still while other better games have come out like GoW. When there's a DMC4, it'll need a gameplay upgrade or it may get left behind. Read more

Having played and completed the entire devil may cry games. I was happy to have this game on the ps3 as well as you should be if you get in on the xbox 360. Devil may cry 4 is an excellent hack/slash/action adventure game. For the 1st time in the series you actually play as the new hero Nero. He controls very differently to Dante, who you get to play with for the other half of the game. Keeping the action fresh, welcoming for new comers. Nero is easy to use and you get... Read more
