It was released worldwide in November 2007. Excluding expansion packs, this game is the fourth installment in the Call of Duty series and it has been made available not only for the Sony Playstation 3 but also for the Xbox 360, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.
This game differs from the previous games within the series as it is set in modern times rather than during World War II. It makes use of a proprietary game engine that offers a wide variety of features including true world-dynamic lightning, HDR lighting effects, dynamics shadows, and depth of field. This game engine also calculates bullet penetration taking into account factors such as surface type and entity thickness. This features makes it important for users to distinguish between cover and concealment.
Players of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare take on the role of a variety of available characters. To succeed in the game, they must fulfill missions. Each mission has a series of objectives that involve a variety of different tasks including arriving at a checkpoint, eliminating enemies, and planting explosives. At certain points throughout the game, laptop computers are presented to the players. These contain enemy intelligence that can help players succeed in the campaign.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare offers modes that can be played by multiple players. These modes include team-based and deathmatch-based games.

Call of Duty 4 is about a chaotic war which occurs in various parts of Russia and the Middle East. The action is very intense, enemies armed with artificial intelligence and a good eye. However how many enemies you destroy, new ones will pop up. This can be frustrating and will keep the tension going. In Arcade Mode you will earn points and multipliers. Every type of killing will earn you a set amount of points, so multiple kills will bring in more, as will a knife kill. The more enemies you eliminate, the larger your multiplier is. Every stage has a time limit. The special effects make Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare look like a Hollywood action movie, the scenery and fireworks are amazing. The game never bores you; you will be more and more engrossed. On the other hand the graphics aren’t that good, they look uneven. The sound is good, though. The game is loud with gun fire, explosions, yelling, and the soundtrack. All combined to give a high level of excitement.

Call of Duty fans worried by the series' move to the modern age of combat can breathe a sigh of relief. Although a new setting, Call of Duty 4 is everything we've come to love about the series and continues its tradition of stunning visuals and thrilling gameplay. The single-player is short but the Arcade game mode and brilliant online multiplayer combine to create one of the games of the year. It's more of the same, but every bit as polished as we hoped it would be.... Read more

First off let me say that I am not a huge fan of FPS’s. In general I know that the graphics are usually really good but something about them just gets monotonous after a while. I will also account for the fact that I am a PS player through and through and have very [...] Read more

This game is just great, the storyline, everything! The graphics are amazing, and the controls are very simple. Though the single-player is very short (7 hours), so it is more conveinient if you have the internet. Read more
Got this game from Amazon a few weeks ago. I haven't played the PC/other console versions, so I can't compare this game with them. It took a little while to get used to the controls but once I got a system down, it was a lot of fun. The game moves very fast and it may make the game feel a bit short. It does have a multiplayer feature though. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to try it out. Read more
I'm gonna keep this one short Graphics: Call of Duty 4 is one of the only games for the ps3 that supports 1080p, making it the highest quality game you can get, best I've ever seen. Graphics: 5/5 Story: Good.... for a war game. It's hard to say anything without spoilers since it progresses well in stead of some games that have you searching for one thing the entire campaign. Story: 4/5 (war game scale, ordinary scale: 3/5) Features: Doesn't matter, you play campaign and... Read more
This video game is excellent the creators did such a great job with it it's outstanding in every way.
