It doesn’t limit the fun, however, and that’s really what a good game boils down to. Is Call of Duty 4 fun? Without question. Does it provide a good multiplayer experience in spite of the need to unlock modes and weapons that should be there in the first place? Yes. Is it pretty? One of the prettiest games of the year. Is it immersive? Definitely, particularly though its use of 5.1 surround-sound audio. So are we recommending Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare? Read more

The Call of Duty series is already nearly legendary for doing the impossible - making itself the clear class of an insanely crowded World War II shooter field. Now, after three installments set against the backdrop of the European theater, Infinity Ward has moved the game into modern times, with spectacular results. Read more

As much as we love brand new games and sequels to previous games, nothing beats the classics. In this case, I am talking about Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Everyone has been so into the new game, Modern Warfare 2, they probably haven’t even thought about playing the original Modern Warfare. Read more

Call of Duty 4 is easily one of the best games of 2007, and is definitely the best FPS we have seen in a long time. The new setting brings with it a great new feel, and is a welcome change to the barrage of WWII shooters that have cluttered the market. A must buy for any FPS fan, and a game that will be very hard to put down. Read more

I'm sure many people will agree with me when I say this is one of the best around. Taking a break from the World War 2 story line Call of Duty 4 brings the player into the modern warfare, as the name suggest. Gone are the World War 2 weapons and in are the new modern weapons and hello a new threat to the world. Read more

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter (FPS) video game that was developed by California’s Infinity Ward and published by Activision, Inc. It was released worldwide in November 2007. Excluding expansion packs, this game is the fourth installment in the Call of Duty series and it has been made available not only for the Sony Playstation 3 but also for the Xbox 360, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.

This game differs from the previous games within the series as it is set in modern times rather than during World War II. It makes use of a proprietary game engine that offers a wide variety of features including true world-dynamic lightning, HDR lighting effects, dynamics shadows, and depth of field. This game engine also calculates bullet penetration taking into account factors such as surface type and entity thickness. This features makes it important for users to distinguish between cover and concealment.

Single Player Campaign

Players of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare take on the role of a variety of available characters. To succeed in the game, they must fulfill missions. Each mission has a series of objectives that involve a variety of different tasks including arriving at a checkpoint, eliminating enemies, and planting explosives. At certain points throughout the game, laptop computers are presented to the players. These contain enemy intelligence that can help players succeed in the campaign.

Multiplayer Modes

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare offers modes that can be played by multiple players. These modes include team-based and deathmatch-based games.

Review Summary

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is an intense and addictive shooting game. The game opens in a training camp where you will be taught the basic control features, shooting at targets. And afterwards to be trained on navigating and following orders. Then you will be on your first mission on a huge tanker. Call of Duty 4 is about a chaotic war which occurs in various parts of Russia and the Middle East. The action is very intense, enemies armed with artificial intelligence and a good eye. However how many enemies you destroy, new ones will pop up. This can be frustrating and will keep the tension going. In Arcade Mode you will earn points and multipliers. Every type of killing will earn you a set amount of points, so multiple kills will bring in more, as will a knife kill. The more enemies you eliminate, the larger your multiplier is. Every stage has a time limit. The special effects make Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare look like a Hollywood action movie, the scenery and fireworks are amazing. The game never bores you; you will be more and more engrossed. On the other hand the graphics aren’t that good, they look uneven. The sound is good, though. The game is loud with gun fire, explosions, yelling, and the soundtrack. All combined to give a high level of excitement.
