Batman: Arkham Asylum

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a PS3 game for avid fans of the well-known superhero. The background story in this game has been written by the renowned Batman author, Paul Dini. This game is developed by Rocksteady Studios and it is slated to be released in the summer of 2009. Much anticipation prior to its release, fans can look forward to realistic graphics and a different setting in this game. Nathan Whitman, an associate producer at Warner Bros.’ videogame division, is proud of the way Batman’s cape is coming along in the game Batman: Arkham Asylum. "We’ve got a guy working full-time on cape physics," Whitman says. “We expect Batman Arkham Asylum to not only be the biggest game of the summer but one of the stand-out games of the year,” Eidos’ head of UK marketing Jon Brooke told MCV. “It’s as close to perfect as we’ve ever come; it looks amazing, plays beautifully and has a rich twisting storyline with enormous replayability. I’m confident enough to say that it will set a new benchmark for licensed games and it’s going to establish itself as one of our best games ever.”

Features

In this game, everything would be different from the previous Batman games. Like per say, the superhero’s mantle will not be that stable as it always is. In fact, it will animate and blend with everything that will be going on in this game. Various gameplay options are present so that, in this matter, there will be a higher level gaming with this game. Sources say that following this game, many games in the future will employ the same gameplay tactics. Characters present in this game so far have been notified as the Joker, Commissioner Gordon, Riddler, Harley Quinn (who’s said to look sexier than the usual) and a couple of not-so-famous characters such as Killer Croc and Blue Beetle are also featured. As for the action sequences, the Batman: Arkham Asylum includes two trademark fighting modes which are the FreeFlow™ and the Invisible Predator™. What the FreeFlow mode does is it allows Batman to punch its enemies to consciousness but not death. As for the Invisible Predator mode, it allows you as Batman to combat your enemies silently. Another unconfirmed mode is the investigation mode which is something like scrutinizing the current situation and knowing what and who you are about to deal with. The Croc mode helps to attack your enemies in silence and a little detective work is included as well. In this mode, you will be able to save people as well and by doing so; you will earn points and achievements.

It's a shame that the game has to end, but when it does you'll no doubt have more to see and do. For one, there are a tonne of collectable items to find that will keep you exploring for ages, with Riddler trophies, inmate interviews and more to be found. There's also a set of challenges that test your combat and stealth skills, with scores registered on worldwide leaderboards for all to see and compete against. While not as engaging as the campaign, for many these... Read more

There are things I hadn't even touched upon such as the incredible character models or the trophies you can unlock (Not achievement/trophies, but actual models that you would like in real life), but this is what you need to know: Batman Arkham Asylum is hands down the greatest comic-book character game and the ultimate Batman experience. Don't waste another second hanging on the fence about it. Buy this game. Read more

A lot of purists were asking whether a superhero videogame could be delivered without dumbing down the subject matter so that a wide audience gets what it's about. Batman: Arkham Asylum clearly shows that story, setting, mechanics and atmosphere can be combined to show off characters, create tension, offer opportunities for combat and exploration while also staying true to what the main character and his villains are all about. I'm not one of those people who know... Read more

Concept: An exhilarating quest into the heart of madness. This game explores every facet of Batman’s character, and rewards players handsomely with unforgettable moments Graphics: No detail is spared. Arkham’s architecture is gorgeous, and as the plot progresses, Batman’s costume takes on more damage Sound: Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy reprise their roles from the animated series. Both deliver knockout performances Playability: From targeting to gliding, the... Read more

Ultimately, Batman: Arkham Asylum succeeds because it's a great game, with or without the license. It seamlessly transitions between beat-?em-up brawler, intense stealth action, and exploration-friendly adventure without missing a beat. Read more

Even thought this is a full game, I wish, personally, that it could have been longer because it was so much fun. This tells you everything you need to know on how to survive and succeed in beating this game. It can yet create a co-dependency, but it that can be avoided, this book is a great tool. Read more

There are minor details I thought were cool and amusing: some comments you can get out of Aaron Cash, the loonies running around the island, and when you get to take a rodeo ride on one of those Titans I mentioned, are all quite entertaining. Read more

Now that I have a PS3, I was finally able to get my hands on a copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Being a big fan of Batman, (comics in general really), I’ve been looking very forward to trying out this new comic-hero game, even though comic-book-hero games don’t have the best track record. Though some good ones have made it through (Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Spiderman 2), just like the movie business, for every Gary Oldman, two or three Kristen Stewarts get produced... Read more
