Zone of Enders: The 2nd Runner
18 October 2005
Excerpt: What do you have planned for tomorrow? Are you going back to school? Dreading that horrid job you have? Sleeping in until the midmorning sun casts its golden rays into your room? We all map out our lives for not only the following day, but for weeks, months, even years in advance. Yet despite all of this planning, we still can’t predict the future. All your dreams and aspirations may never come to fruition, ditching you in the midst of an uncaring world.
Excerpt: It isn’t often that we European gamers get any special treatment from the bigger games publishers, so it comes as quite a surprise to see Konami releasing a special edition of Zone of The Enders: The 2nd Runner in Europe, with new features and gameplay tweaks that don’t form a part of the US and Japanese release. Cheers all round for effort, but on top of the extras, I’m pleased to say that the game stands up incredibly well in its own right.
Excerpt: Set a couple years after the first game , The 2nd Runner begins with the ex-BAHRAM soldier Dingo finding the orbital frame (another name for mech) Jehuty buried in a metatron mine on Callisto. Just as he finds the spectacular robot, the mine comes under attack by BAHRAM, forcing Dingo to use Jehuty to defend his comrades. After a near fatal encounter with Dingo's former commander, the soldier is forced to stop BAHRAM.
Pros: Great anime-style mech action, Varied combat, enemies and objectives, Game looks great
Cons: Too story heavy, Lock-on and camera issues during combat
Tada !
