Summary: After playing the first version of the game, i thought maybe Kazuma Kiryu (main character) would have changed his outfit. But apparently everyone in Tokyo has one set of clothes to wear. Anyway, the game takes place a year after the first Yakuza. Kiryu has left the clan to live normally as Hakura's gaurdian. Until Terada, the current chairmain of the Tojo needs his help to prevent a war between rival clans.
Summary: The fighting system, though still quirky, is far more flexible when fighting multiple opponents than in the first installment. His "quick" punches are also actually quick for a martial artist instead of quick for a beginner, making it in that regard a bit more realistic. Heats are far more brutal, and the inclusion of a completion list in the game helps when trying to unlock everything the game has to offer.
Summary: Yakuza is a very fun and interesting game. its story line is really very interesting as well as its game play. the only downside i can see is the loading time. you need a time to enter every battle but it only takes about 3-6 seconds.
Summary: YAKUZA (PS2) ~ Let us face it, the only reason you would be & should be interested in this game is because you either love Japan cinema such as "The Yakuza Papers", Anime, Import Games, or you just want something different! If you fall into one of these catagories you will enjoy YAKUZA. Sure the game can feel a little repeative at times, however, the story and gameplay have more than enough going for them that you can easily lose sense of time and play for hours!
Summary: If you like the Yakuza and you like street brawling games this is not bad game. Its actually got a deep story to it and the fighting is fun. Only reason I rated it 4/5 instead of 3/5 is how well it explains the Yakuza so its pretty cool game.
Excerpt: "...excellent second entry to SEGA’s Yakuza series, as the return of a comprehensive combat system, a superb central character and a wealth of engaging missions outweigh its ugly presentation and patchy translation. One year after the events of the first game, Kazuma Kiriyu is lured back to the city of Kamourocho (a recreation of a Tokyo red-light district) where he must attempt to keep the peace between his clan, the Tojo, and the increasingly restless ...
Pros: Great combat, fine story, positive new additions, Kazuma Kiriyu
Cons: Dated presentation, poor translation and sound quality
Summary: When the first Yakuza game came out a couple of years ago, it was compared to GTA: Shinjuku before anyone actually played it when, in actual fact, the best comparison would be to call it Takeshi Kitano's Shenmue. It was deep, with a sprawling plot and a lot of things to see and do, be it numerous side quests to just exploring the city and sampling everything there is to find.
