Xiaolin Showdown Review

VideoGamer.com
20 December 2007
  • Excerpt: Xiaolin Showdown is the videogame spin-off of the successful children's TV show of the same name. Taking this into account, it's no surprise that the game has ended up being nigh-on patronising for the average gamer with the developers clearly trying to make their game accessible to even the most novice of gamers. However, with kids these days more than capable of tackling some of the more advanced games out there, there seems to be no real place for this beat 'em up.

Crave has recently released games for the GBA based on a couple Cartoon Network programs, and Game Factory has released a Mario Kart game with other Cartoon Network characters.

  • Summary: This simplistic brawler's condescending attitude and one-note gameplay make it worth dodging.

  • Conclusion: After seeing the show I was actually looking forward to taking Xiaolin Showdown for a spin. Unfortunately I was let down in almost every department. The gameplay suffers from poor AI, a faulty camera, repetition, and a complete lack of difficulty. The graphics and audio do nothing for the title either with substandard production and occasional technical glitches.
