Excerpt: As a big comic book fan, I've been looking forward to X-Men Legends since before I even knew the game was in development. An X-Men RPG? Woohoo! Finally, Raven Software is bringing everyone's favorite comic book heroes to the consoles in their very first RPG.
Excerpt: I've never been too fond of playing video games based on comics, but something about an X-Men RPG just drew me to it. So upon finding the game (and getting it on bargain), I was thrilled with the game, and glad I made the decision to buy it.
Pros: + Pros-Patrick Stewart voice acting, what more could you want?
Cons: - Cons-Wasn't too fond of the difficulty of the levels
Excerpt: It seems that now that comic books are finally getting some respect in the videogame world, it was about time someone revisited one of the more popular comicbook teams and gave them a full-fledged game all their own. In Legends , players are presented an X-Men world that takes liberties in it's story and history. To be fair, though, Raven Software had to do wonders to build a story without completely tossing out years of convoluted backstory.
Pros: Fun team-based action RPG gameplay, Lots of environmental interaction, Plenty of X-Men to use, Co-op is both a challenge and fun
Cons: Minor clipping issues, Character models could be more detailed, Getting some of your favorite X-Men near the end of the game is a downer
Excerpt: For as long as I can recall, I've loved comic books. Some of the finest memories of my childhood are the days I spent sitting on the couch with a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man learning to read—yes, that's right…comics were a key item in teaching me to read. Unlike most parents, who seem to go out of their way to encourage their kids to read anything but comics, my mother saw them as an invaluable tool in inspiring in me a love for the written word.

In the game, you’re able to take the role of 15 different characters as you battle against the Brotherhood and Magneto, Sentinels, the Morlocks, and anti-mutant supporters. Being the first RPG under the X-Men name, one must ask, does it do justice to everyone’s favorite band of mutants? The story in X-Men Legends largely revolves around a young girl named Allison Crestmere... better known as Magma.
Excerpt: You and your team are walking through an old reactor building, and all of a sudden, you’re confronted by armed security guards. What will you do? Fortunately you have the advantage with your mutant abilities. Will you freeze your foes? Electrocute your enemies? Barbecue the bad guys? All sound like great options, so you use all three powers at once. This is one of the possible scenes from Activision’s latest take on X-Men.
Excerpt: One of the plusses of the games industry growing exponentially is that games or even entire genres that used to be nothing more than stockpiles of hastily rushed, low budget schlock are slowly getting life breathed into them. The superhero genre wasn't exactly hurting for decent titles, but it wasn't the kind of showcase that racing or role-playing games were for flashy graphics and polished gamely either until games like Perhaps appropriately, Activision's ties with...
Conclusion: In terms of the replay value this game has, one may be surprised to know how much it offers. X-Men: Legends features a single player (or multiplayer) campaign that is about 25 hours long. Luckily, the game does not end there. Because there are so many characters, a replay of the game seems far less repetitive than if the same characters were used. However, this campaign is not the only thing this game has to offer.
