****updated review but still disappointed

Lord Darkseid, Amazon
8 November 2004
  • Summary: First, let me tell you the one really good thing about the game. The Royal Rumble new feature is great. They have a new way of eliminating wrestlers with a "Ring Out" meter. You throw your opponent over the rope and when they land on the apron, you just start mashing your button to lower their meter and eventually push them off the apron. A bonus is that another wrestler can actually help you push them off.

Smackdown vs. Raw REVISITED

Kristopher G. Williams "zerokoolkw", Amazon
4 November 2004
  • Summary: This is my second review of Smackdown vs. Raw. The first time I reviewed the game I was admittedly very harsh and perhaps over-critical. I only had the game for a day at that point and hadn't really explored many of the features. Now that I've had time to really digest the game I urge those who were nay sayers to take a closer look at the game. One of the first aspects of the game I initially slammed was its skimpy roster.

A bad year for the franchise

Beau Balon "Actually owned this product", Amazon
3 November 2004
  • Summary: I put off buying the new GTA in anticipation of getting this year's new Smackdown game. So I went and bought a copy today at lunch. After work I sat down to play. After about 2 hours of playing, I put it up for sale on an auction site. This game is horrible. Yes, the roster is very weak. But it does reflect the poor state of the WWE today and it's lack of true SUPER stars of years past.

Good but not great

Mr. R. Butler "robwbutler", amazon.co.uk
25 April 2005
  • Summary: I can imagine if you were a new player and had never played a THQ Wrestling game before then this would be brilliant. But I have played them before and I think that it isn't much better than Here Comes the Pain which was the version before. A couple of small additions but the only noticeable thing is the new roster which is outdated on release with stars like Garrison Cade on it who has gone back to OVW and Sable who had left too.

The best wrestling game ever ? maybe not.

Ms. Michelle Ilkiw "tykiana", amazon.co.uk
21 December 2004
  • Summary: When i bought this game i first wondered whether it would be different from the other smackdown games and i realised it wasn't different at all. All the classic match types are here and theres still story mode and create a wrestler modes to keep you playing but otherwise its the same old hat. Controlling the wrestlers isn't as fluid as past smackdown games and the characters don't look anything like the real wrestlers at all.

Don't waste your money

Jay, amazon.co.uk
19 December 2004
  • Summary: For too long now, THQ have felt they can continue to give us shabby 'updates' and get away with it. Unfortunately, you have 'blind' fans who'll buy the game no matter what the 'updates' are, but if you're smart you won't touch this game. I didn't even buy it, I was smart enough to rent it - and even then I felt robbed of the £3.50. The only type of fan this game will truly appeal to is the fan who tunes in for the divas and divas alone, because this game is full of it.

No dis-respect to Amazon but this game is a dissapointment!

R. J. Bialosiewicz "polisheagle2004", amazon.co.uk
2 December 2004
  • Summary: This game doesn't add up to the hype was given. Here are my list of reasons why i think i wasted my money, firstly the wrestlers which are on the game like A-Train, Palumbo and Rico have all been released, and wrestlers such as Sylvain Grenier, Billy Kidman, Paul London and so on dont appear on the game. Also, you cannot play for teh Tag Team championships in the story-modes.

Don't believe the Hype.

Chris, amazon.co.uk
25 November 2004
  • Summary: Well having read the reviews I finally gave in and bought this 6th game in the smackdown series. The in-ring action was some of the best I have seen from the series, but for me personally I get these games for the caw modes and I have to say in the Move set area I was highly disappointed.

Nach hohen Erwartungen: RIESEN ENTTÄUSCHUNG!!!

Christian M. 1981, Amazon
22 November 2004
