WWE Smackdown ? or Letdown !
1 August 2003
Summary: This is the first wrestling game that I own, and I have to say that it is simply brilliant in all respects bar 1 ! The thing that for me, that lets this game down very badly, is the fact that I found myself beating my apponent to the state where my apponent was actually rocking in front of me. I had two gold S icons up on the screen and I went to do my finishing move the 'Tombstone piledriver or choke slam' only to find that it just would not, work !
Summary: Being a bit of a saturday morning wrestling fan and recently purchasing the PS2 with this game at the same time, I couldn't help but think that it didn't live up to my expectations at all. I'd heard all wonderful things about both the game and the console and couldn't wait to get into a new gaming expreience, but what I found was a game that was after a few hours tedious, at times too slow and easy no matter what difficulty.
Summary: Billed as the "Best Ever", this Smackdown game falls short. The main wrestling view is similar to one of the old Nintendo views (just with better graphics), only saved when the camera shows a temporary alternate view. You can't wrestle for belts in exhibition mode. (Isn't that why we buy these games? To play with friends?) You can't go into the crowd. When you have six men in the ring, two of the wrestler's power data info covers a large part of the playing screen.
