Conclusion: This is definitely a great replication of the World Rally Championship. It is heavy in eye candy and sounds, and the replays are worth the price of admission alone. There's just not been anything as good from a presentation standpoint when it comes to nailing the look and feel of the venues of the WRC. The driving and challenge is fun, but not particularly difficult, and little finesse is needed, just attention and good instincts.
Excerpt: Trees. From a very early age we know what they look like, and the majority of us see one every day of our lives. You would think then, that an object of such familiarity would carry over into a video game well. But in the case of rally games, they just don’t. They never have. I have yet to play a single rally game with realistic looking trees. Sure, they look realistic enough when you’re driving down a gravel covered country lane in Wales. At 70Mph. In the pouring rain.
Excerpt: In early February, Bam! Entertainment announced that they had received the rights to bring the highly acclaimed World Rally Championship racing game to the United States. Little did I know at the time that it would be coming as early as March. While rally racing isn’t overly popular here in the States, there are many fans of the sport in the world of videogames. Unfortunately, the PS2 hasn’t been populated with many quality titles from the genre………yet!
Excerpt: First of all I want to thank (again) the people at SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment Austria) and my press contact, the team at "Agentur Impuls", for sending me a copy of this game for review purpose.
