Prepare yourself for a feast of mashed buttons as Warriors Orochi dishes out a heap of hack-and-slash action. You'll slice and dice the Asia of old in this hybrid button-masher, but unfortunately, the game's monotonous action and lackluster presentation offer little sustenance. Read more

I can see the vision behind this game. Take the baddest warriors from the baddest nations and put them in one game to see who really was the baddest of the baddest of the bad. Of course the only logical conclusion was that the baddest of the baddass warriors could only come from the 'Three Kingdoms' era of China and the 'Sengoku' period in Japan. By some freak coincidence – I couldn't believe it myself how lucky we are of this – KOEI already published games... Read more

Lastly (and you knew this was coming), Warriors Orochi is just downright repetitive. Like the previous Warriors games, there's only so much fun you can have from mindlessly hacking and slashing through a bunch of brain-dead baddies. Although the tag team system is refreshing, we found that the combat mechanics were still on the shallow side of things, and didn't deliver a really exciting experience. Read more

If all that's been said previously isn't enough to dissuade you from taking Warriors Orochi for a spin, this probably means you're one of the dedicated faithful who would play anything with the word "Warriors" on the box. In that case, this game is clearly designed for you, and by all means you should take it for a spin. For the rest of humanity, Warriors Orochi can safely be ignored. Read more

Koei's apologists will find Warriors Orochi to be an affable bit of fan service, but everyone else should just stay far away. Read more

There's nothing like riding a horse through legions of Chinese foot soldiers while beating them down with a spear. Of course, fans of the Dynasty Warriors (DW) series are used to this type of play. The story starts with the Serpent King ... Read more
