Wakeboarding Unleashed

Operation Sports
20 August 2003
  • Excerpt: August 31, 1999 a new dynasty was born. It was that day when Activision released a title that would forever change the way extreme sports were played. For, it was that day that Activision released Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater for the Sony Playstation. Not only did THPS find instant success, but it brought about the possibilities to expand that oh sooo addicting gameplay into several other extreme sports.

Wakeboarding Unleashed featuring Shaun Murray PlayStation 2 Review

Game Info Wire
19 July 2003
  • Excerpt: What Activision has done is made a game that, although it looks and is laid out like it will be a "Hawk" clone, plays and feels masterfully unlike it.

PSX Extreme
24 June 2003
  • Excerpt: Shaba Games is a development house that likes Neversoft's Tony's Hawk's Pro Skater (THPS) series more than you do. If imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery, Shaba certainly flattered Neversoft by way of Grind Session, which was probably the closest Tony Hawk clone that this reviewer has ever seen. With the exception of certain additions (like technical lines and "skater's eye" view), the game felt just like Tony Hawk, but the control never felt as tight.

  • Summary: I've always had a soft spot for beat-'em-ups. They were games that were immediately accessible and could be played for a few minutes whenever you had the time.
