Summary: I really wanted to like this game. The movie Van Helsing is not quite great, but it would at least qualify as pretty good. Unfortunately, this game can only qualify as good overall. I give it three stars because it really does have some good points, and many of the choices with weapon combos are pretty useful, but overall it just didn't hold up for a long enough duration to earn more than that.
Summary: I bought this game because I loved the movie and I thought it world be like the movie. The game is kinda hard and took me forever to get past the Dracula Wives. I guess it just got boring after a while. I never play it anymore anyway.
Summary: Video games based on movie licenses are always a hit or miss. For every good game like "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," and "Spiderman: The Movie," there is the horrible "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," and the mediocre, "Enter the Matrix." "Van Helsing" falls somewhere in between. The game borrows heavily from "Devil May Cry," complete with cinematic camera angles and fighting combos and weapons you can purchase after a level.
A run of the mill shoot em up style game with nothing special added to it

Excerpt: Van Helsing was a film, released in 2004 or 2003 , which detailed the story involving Van Helsing (but not that Van Helsing) fighting Dracula (but not that Dracula) and an army of minions, with a crossbow and some holy water and a comic relief monk. It was pretty cool, for its target audience, and absolutely awful for everyone else.
Excerpt: Having never watched the film I was a bit worried I would be at a disadvantage in playing this game however I need not have worried as the game was disappointedly easy to pick up and whilst it was certainly not the worst game that I have played neither was it the best and in the end it was a rather average offering. Taking on the role of Van Helsing you will encounter a fairly fast paced action game which does have some pretty good boss battles to keep it interesting.
Summary: This game was short and easy. If games reflecting respective movies get released, I think they should start making the game when they start making the movie. I feel like some game producers rush to fill an anticipated quota on a title such as Van Helsing, and they never put enough time into quality. I actually loved the movie...a fun ride...but the game was like flat soda, exciting for only a little while.
