Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is a game that will keep you busy for a couple of dozen hours. It's something different - and pleasant - so play a side-scrolling RPG. The story does its job more than adequate and the new combat system is cool without getting boring. The graphics are amazing and so is the music. The voice-acting could have been left out for me, but if you're an RPG fan and want to take out your PS2 once again then you really should buy this one! Read more
The battle system is equally appealing. Once engaged, your party can either split or fight as a team. The party is encircled within rings and the enemies on individual grids. The idea is to avoid the grids (or move in when they’re faded) and snare the opposition within your range. Once targeted, each button represents an attack. Let the fray begin. Read more
For my circle of friends in college, there were just some things that could be quoted at any opportunity, and it would work. One of them was Valkyrie Profile. It wasn't just that we all enjoyed it and consequently played it constantly. It wasn't just having a really interesting storyline. It was the fact that it had halfway decent voice acting and the kind of writing that is so campy and over the top that it feels fun to say. Read more
Valkyrie Profile 2 is just a great game. Is it better than Valkyrie Profile 1? In my opinion, no. But Valkyrie Profile 1 was just a unique masterpiece that no other game holds a comparison to. That said, Valkyrie Profile 2 is still miles ahead of its competition when it comes to gameplay, story, visuals, and sound. The game may not be as unique as its predecessor, but it sure is a complete package. Read more
I still can highly recommend this game to any RPG fan, though – after getting used to it, the combat system will be fun (though frustrating at times) and the game will provide an overall rewarding experience. I can’t help but think that tri-ace messed with the formula a bit too much, though. Had they left the combat system alone, mostly, they would have had a surefire hit on their hands. Read more
You've played all those other role playing games where you see what's coming and can't do anything about it. Valkyrie Profile Silmeria allows you to turn the tables on the Most Difficult Bosses in several ways, such as going solo. This is really more of a fighting game when you use this tactic. Skills such as guarding and dodging really add depth to the gameplay, all at your command. If you prefer to use a party, there are dozens of characters to choose from. Read more
Valkyrie profile is a good game to have.It is combination of 2d and 3d. The best thing for me about the vp silmeria is the gameplay, the plot, the background music and scenery. This game also features dolby digital pro logic like the other games and especially the progressive scan 16:9 displays as said in cnet reviews. Read more
Valkyrie Profile 2 (VP2) is the sequel to the PS1 game Valkyrie Profile (which is available on the PSP in the UK). The story revolves around Alicia, who is possessed by the soul of the valkyrie Silmeria, as she tries to reach her home country after many years in exile. She gets caught up in a number of affairs and along the ways twists in the story occur. The gameplay as with most rpgs is split into two types: Field and Battle. Read more
Good review, I’m still waiting on my copy in the mail. I found your plot argument very interesting. Maybe it was the death of Aeris in final fantasy 7 or the idea of Yuna sacrificing herself to save Spira in 10 which put both games on my top favorite games of all time list. Square-Enix should take a hint, put more tragedy and seriousness in games! Read more
