Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is a beautiful game with a rich battle system to back it up. Some of the additions and subtractions may be a little hard to swallow (especially for fans of the original), that does not mean this game is any less excellent. Many dedicated fans have been waiting a long time for a sequel to the hit Valkyrie Profile for the original Playstation. While Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is technically a prequel, it is still well worth the wait. The basic formula for this game seems to be that tri-Ace took everything that worked well with the original game and improved upon it. I’d take Odin, Valkyrie and the magnificence of Valhalla over typical RPG fare any day. Those whiney teens, hapless females and silly demons just can’t compete with Norse mythology. Or maybe it’s just because I’ve played way too many RPGs with those familiar archetypes. Of course, it takes more than all the awesome things mentioned in Manowar lyrics to make a good game. Valkyrie Profile is turning out to be a decent franchise, although this iteration is a few IQ points short of genius. Taking a cult hit and squeezing it into a more conventional mold was a bad choice, but still, Valkyrie Profile 2: SIlmeria is worthy of a third entry, which will hopefully be something along the lines of Valkyie Profile 3: Lenneth 2 , call me crazy. Fun: So yeah, traveling the word is two-dimensional. And yeah, the world map is broken up, making travel a pain sometimes. No new game plus, just harder to clear each time.
