  • Excerpt: There are a number of different sub-genres appearing within the realms of sports gaming these days. You’ve got your straight simulations, your arcade simulations, extreme arcade simulations and then, of late, we’ve seen the rise and rise of the “Street” simulation. Acclaim have jumped on this brutal bandwagon with Urban Freestyle Soccer , which as the name implies, is a soccer game with a few more cuts and bruises than Pro Evolution Soccer 3 .

  • Conclusion: Urban Freestyle Soccer could have been an excellent game, and the makings really are there due to the exaggerated game play in the "urban" setting which provides a nice change from the complex professional football titles. The multiplayer mode thankfully gives it some much needed replay value, but the lack of overall polish leaves you feeling a little cheated - where was all the urban atmosphere?

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: There is some fun to be gleaned from the title, though one could argue that, that's because of the intrinsic enjoyment of the sport it mimics. Even then however, the game fast becomes tedious, so much so that even the added interest that multiplayer brings cannot save it.

  • Excerpt: Hidden away in the murky depths of the gaming industry away from prying eyes is a dark, mysterious entity. It lurks unknown to many, swallowing up unsuspecting passers-by. I’m not talking about some deranged vacuum cleaner, I’m talking about the infamous Bermuda Triangle of games development. You see, every year helpless features in the latest games suddenly disappear without a trace never to surface again.

  • Conclusion: Over all UFS is a really fun game that just hasn't got the longevity factor that a game like Pro Evolution Soccer 3 has. So get it if you want a quick and easy pick-up-and-play game with a lot of laughs.
  • Pros: A good laugh, and not bad to look at, with some excellent animation - a game that is better than I expected it to be.
  • Cons: No longevity, at least not for the conventional football lover.

Urban Freestyle Soccer - Review (PS2)

  • Conclusion: Sin estadios colosales, uniformes o fichajes millonarios.
