  • Excerpt: It’s difficult to remember a time when The Simpsons weren’t around. Since their debut on the Tracy Ullman Show, those yellow people from Springfield have gone from strength to strength. How many TV shows manage a run of more than five years, let alone fourteen’ How many comedians manage to retain credibility once they’ve done a commercial’ The Simpsons is still critically acclaimed despite spawning a merchandising empire that emulates every company the show apes.

The Simpsons Hit & Run

  • Excerpt: I know what you're thinking.  Another Simpsons game, another crummy game trying to cash in on the show's popularity.  Most of the time you'd be right, but in the case of The Simpsons Hit & Run you're way off mark.  Just saying that it's the best Simpsons game ever wouldn't be saying much, but more surprising than Maggie shooting good ol' Monty is the fact that The Simpsons Hit & Run is a pretty enjoyable game in its own right.

A tamer, sillier alternative to Grand Theft Auto.

Common Sense Media

  • Summary: Parents need to know that the humor and language are right in line with the show's salty style, and while the game's animation is, obviously, very cartoonish, players can run people over with their cars, and beat and kick them. On the other hand, the plot includes both parental protesting over a controversial video game, and a soda with mind-controlling properties, both of which might encourage conversations about marketing to children.

  • Excerpt: Another reason the game doesn’t flow is the difficulty level - it has more ups and downs than the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Some missions are over way too quickly and left me begging for more, while others had me begging the game to stop with the torture. For those with a little less patience, the game actually gives you an out by allowing you to skip missions after failing them a couple of times, but if you ask me, it is inexcusable that they chose to add a skip...

  • Summary: It may not have any ground-breaking ideas, but this is a fun game to play with or without the Simpsons licence.

  • Excerpt: The Simpson family does GTA 3. Well not exactly, but that's a good place to start. The witty comedy and beloved characters of televisions greatest show meet the interactivity and freedom of a living, adventure filled Springfield. A must have for all fans and for those looking for the GTA experience minus the prostitute murdering, The Simpsons: Hit & Run is the real deal.

The Simpsons: Hit & Run

  • Excerpt: I'm sure every review for Hit & Run has started off with some comment about previous Simpsons games. The fact is, they were crap, so much so that I'm tempted to use a slightly stronger expletive. All you need know, really, is that you should never, ever buy a Simpsons game - save for this one.
