Summary: The fighting gameplay is very innovative and revolutionary. It's hard to describe but you'll see how unique this game is in terms of action. It's also fun using the different weapons, especially the huge axe.
Summary: I planned to pickup some old PS2 favorites to play in my downtime, but I vaguely remembered playing the demo for The Mark of Kri. I bought the game, because I remembered the demo being a ton of fun. I'm just now getting around to actually playing the game, and I must say I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I've beat the first three levels, because of my lack of downtime, I haven't been able to play much.
Summary: Mark of Kri is lots of fun with some good replay value. Only five levels which don't take that long to play through but with challenges to make it interesting and unlockable arenas and outfits. Not a very popular game so I bought mine for next to nothing. Definitely worth it.
Summary: This game gets a definite thumbs-up from me. It is equally well crafted in its gameplay, graphics/sound, and atmosphere. The story is not bad for a non-rpg, though you won't get a whole lot of character development. You are Rau, a young warrior trained to fulfill a prophecy and protect the land from a vile clan that wishes to unleash powerful dark magic.
Summary: Hundreds of years ago, mysterious forces created a spell with the power to open a passage between the world of darkness and our world. No one was able to fight against its terrible power before it could be invoked, the spell was stolen and smashed into six parts. A millennium later and the spell had become just another tale among many told around campfires.
Summary: I'm an older game-player so it takes me a bit longer to finish games...I just don't have the free time I used to. Now having finished THE MARK OF KRI, I'm dropping my rating down to 4, from 5. The game is a lot of fun...lots of action, no stupid puzzles, lots of blood and gore and slo mo. The fighting system is also really creative. SPOILER: The ending of this game is REALLY anti-climactic, however.
Summary: The Mark of Kri is, without question, an awesome gaming experience for the PS2. The storyline (which owes more than a little to the Conan films) is interesting, and, for a change, amounts to a satisfying climax. The combat is difficult at first, but becomes intuitive with practice. This multi-opponent combat system is indeed the heart and soul of the game, and if it didn't work, neither would the game itself... but it works like a charm.
